Job Description

The Head of Programme Office establishes and runs the Programme Office and may deputise for the Programme Director or Programme Manager

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with the business lead/SRO and programme manager to define and implement the programme or project governance framework that aligns to the existing methodology
  • In conjunction with business owners and programme, project or team managers, create strategies for the effective planning, monitoring and delivery of the programme or project
  • Support the sanctioning of projects for inclusion in a programme and ensuring that existing initiatives and projects are effectively adopted into the programme
  • Provide an ongoing health check of the programme and its’ projects by reassessing whether it will continue to meet its' overall objectives
  • Provide strategic oversight and provide an independent voice to the SRO
  • Continually review lessons learnt from projects within the programme and apply recommendations for the other projects within the programme dossier
  • Report progress to the Steering and Programme or Project boards via management dashboards
  • Maintain close relationships with other key programmes that are currently under way, to identify dependencies and ensure that there are no overlaps in responsibilities
  • Support the agreement on stage gate completion, including project closure
  • Be responsible for the PMO team objectives, one-to-one reviews and their workload management and prioritisation of work, and the continuous improvement of the PMO service

What we’re looking for:

  • Working on programmes or projects in complex and large-scale organisational environments
  • Remote/Home-based working
  • Working with external clients and 3rd parties
  • Implementing governance and reporting approaches that are ‘Fit for Purpose’ and provide real value
  • Identifying programme and project risk (Schedule, Cost, Quality)
  • Engagement, collaboration and coaching of P3M professionals
  • Engagement and collaboration with senior level internal and external stakeholders
  • Building and maintaining client stakeholder relationships ensuring they are engaged and informed
  • An industry recognised qualification in Prince 2, APM or P3O is essential
