On the 19th September the Prime Minister announced that the Ministry for Housing Communities & Local Government will become the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. As well as responsibility for housing, communities and local government, the new department will also lead on Levelling Up the United Kingdom.
This is very exciting time to join the department as we are at the heart of the government’s central mission, driving forward a programme of tangible improvements in every part of the country as we build back better from the pandemic, and deliver on the people’s priorities.
This is an exciting and challenging role for a motivated and enthusiastic individual. You will be responsible for delivering this core operational function at the heart of government. Leading a team of 20 people, you will motivate and champion a positive working environment. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to forge strong relationships across the private offices and the department.
The successful candidate/s will be joining a highly skilled unit that is a vital part of Ministerial Group, providing key support to ministers as we ensure that the public and their representatives can hold the Government to account and have their voices heard. The unit is an integral part of the wider Strategy and Private Office directorate.
The role of the Head of Ministerial Correspondence manager is to drive performance in order to deliver high quality and timely outputs. Working at pace, you will progress change and seek improvements to continue to deliver our objectives. You will have overall responsibility for ministerial correspondence, treat official correspondence, transfers and complaints.
The successful candidate will be:
• Building capacity in a team of 20 correspondence staff, leading and motivating your team to deliver its corporate objectives. You will ensure that resources are managed flexibly, that performance delivers against departmental and cross Whitehall targets, and that risks are identified and managed.
• Managing the effective delivery of a correspondence service, driving improvement and processes to ensure that correspondence is dealt with effectively and efficiently.
• Building strong working relationships across private offices and policy teams using excellent stakeholder management skills.
• Using data to analyse performance and drive decisions, productivity and innovation.
• Maintaining a solid grasp of DLUHC policies to ensure that cases can be allocated and triaged appropriately.
