The Head of Group Underwriting is to oversee and lead the team to manage the local, and international medical plans, where underwriting in both portfolio and client case levels. The role will partner with Regional Underwriting Lead to drive initiatives and support best practice sharing/adoption that benefit not only Hong Kong, but for multiple markets. The role must have a high level of engagement with the sales team to analyse the market and assist to manage the underwriting strategies and operational offering for LHB products. You are required to be able to utilize the sophisticated analytical tools to create opportunities for increasing profitability. The role will have very tight interactions with Total Health & Network (TH&N) team in developing, promoting and executing strategy to manage the Total Cost of Care (TCC) for the company and benefit the group clients to drive the affordability agenda.

Job Responsibilities:

• Underwrite new and renewal business of the group medical to achieve the profit objective

• Continue to innovate Underwriting strategies with a customer focus

• Incorporate “affordability” agenda into case-level underwriting

• Lead the LHB strategy/business case delivery

• Be the key Subject Matter Expert and share knowledge

• Motivate and drive the team to achieve goals

• Manage and enhance underwriting workflow

Job Requirements:

• University graduate of any discipline, preferably with FLMI

• Minimum 10-12 years’ experience in Employee Benefits field

• Ability to review cases by analyzing the available data

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to lead the team to achieve ambitious new business targets

• Good command of both spoken and written English

• Strong PC skills (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
