Within Global Commerce, our core mission is to enable ASOS to achieve global success. We do this by working with teams across ASOS, to help them understand performance at regional level, and ensure that our local sites are optimised to deliver the best possible customer experience.  In order to minimise risk and realize opportunity, we ensure we're constantly responding to changes in customer behaviour and the commercial landscape at Hub level, through effective insight and analysis.

The Head of Trading leads a cross-functional team, responsible for translating the ASOS vision to a local level and ensuring that ASOS remains relevant for the respective market(s) and fashion loving 20-something customer.   They work with and influence teams across Commercial, Finance, Marketing and Delivery Solutions to optimise market performance and realise opportunities.

Leading Trading for a number of markets, your key areas of focus will be:

Commercial market strategy

  • Working closely with the Commercial Planning and Chanells Director, consolidates and develops the overall strategy for ASOS in the market(s), agreeing targets with functional heads and colleagues in Commercial, Finance, Delivery Solutions and Marketing
  • Ensures the market strategy is aligned to the ASOS 3 Year Plan and wider Commercial strategy and objectives
  • Influences key stakeholders through compelling insights and effective presentation of results

Cross Functional Leadership

  • Demonstrates exceptional cross-functional leadership and influencing skills with partnership experience across functional teams

Planning and budgeting

  • Consolidates and aids prioritization of the local customer and commercial needs for the market and develops this with the functional leads into a coherent overall season and year plan
  • Provides the bottom-up market perspective in the financial planning and budgeting phase
  • Suggests incremental investment/marketing/campaign spend through clear ROI justifications

Trading

  • Drives in-season optimization and ad-hoc actions if needed to achieve targets, especially focused on setting and managing monthly and seasonal budgets to achieve the growth plans for the market
  • Provides the ‘Market’ specific perspective and input on major in-season adjustments and potential impact on targets
  • Monitors and benchmarks the performance across customer touch points and jointly identify opportunities for further improvement in short-term and mid-term

Enabling optimised in-market execution

  • Guides daily/weekly business performance on a market level by evaluating operational KPIs ranging from marketing to operations; Identify and capture commercial and improvement opportunities
  • Ensures that we are executing the full customer experience 

Qualifications

We’d love to meet someone with…

  • Proven International Fashion E-commerce experience in a customer-focused, commercial leadership role.  Ideally from a planning, merchandising or market management background.
  • An in-depth understanding of e-commerce and customer metrics
  • Expert influencing and negotiation skills, with proven experience of working cross-functionally to deliver results
  • Proven ability to drive operational execution; a hands-on commercial operator
  • Strategic commercial thinking; the ability to translate customer needs and commercial opportunities to a sound commercial plan that yields short and long-term results
  • Experience in leading and developing teams, providing inspirational leadership and coaching
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skillset
  • A fast thinker, who works proactively to achieve stretch goals, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
