The Head of Engineering reports to the Chief BD & Projects Officer. His / Her main missions are as follows :
Manage the Engineering department of the RGBU
He / She manages a department of 30 to 40 people :
4 teams of highly specialized and experimented engineers : electrical, SCADA, civil works & mechanical, performance engineering
A senior resource in charge of technical innovation
He / She will ensure that the engineering team becomes gradually able to work on different technologies : solar, wind, hydro, battery storage.
He / She ensures the use of State of the Art technology in RGBU projects : wind, solar, hydro and battery storage.
He / She is also responsible to establish the functional management of the engineering teams located in the various region / countries of the RGBU.
Contribute to the industrialization of RGBUs wind and solar projects
Lead the co-development and deployment of general engineering specifications, guidelines, standards & best practices
Lead the co-development and deployment of operational methods & processes aiming at Business Plan and LCOE optimization with a full asset lifecycle view
In particular, ensure appropriate design reviews are implemented on all RGBU projects to ensure best design and appropriate standards are applied
Ensure capitalization of lessons learned and continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices
Prepare and implement the introduction of new technologies in projects’ design under the leadership of the RGBU Chief Technical Officer
Carry out technical qualification of existing and new technologies before their suppliers could be added to new procurement tenders
Ensure that above all, Health & Safety aspect of existing and new technologies shall systematically be taken into account in the procurement and design processes
Assess and implement digital tools best suited for engineering activities
Perform engineering services for the RGBU projects worldwide :
Mobilization of Engineers of the various disciplines in project teams, at all stages of a project (development, design & procurement, construction), according to matrix organization principles (operational reporting to the project manager) :
Perform Preliminary and Basic Design
Review / validate contractors’ and suppliers’ detailed design and plans for commissioning and tests
Follow up during construction, supporting project team with site queries, interface management and change management
Ensure that the performance of plants is properly calculated and stretched in compliance with the project’s business plan
Ensure through an appropriate regulatory survey that countries’ technical regulations are known and integrated in projects’ design and specifications, including grid codes
Ensure that each level of design complies with the commercial and operational expectations of projects’ business plan, costs and schedule, and that technical risks are under control
Provide general engineering support as necessary
Animate networking and support competence development of engineering
Lead and animate engineering disciplines networking, as part of wider renewables Communities of Practice
Manage, in close collaboration with HR/Talent team, the global planning of Engineering resources for the RGBU worldwide, in line with the growth strategy and pipeline
In coordination with HR & Talents support people development through training, work experience and career development

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/diploma
• University degree or equivalent in engineering
• At least 20 years’ experience in different energy sectors, including in renewables
• At least 10 years of senior management experience in technical roles in an engineering environment
• International experience of projects execution, from cradle to grave
• Experience with working in a project-oriented culture, based on collaborative, agile and innovative ways of working
Skills/specific knowledge
• Rich with experience from different energy sectors and technologies to inspire and challenge renewables practices
• Very familiar with Engineering entities / matrix organization
• Multicultural skills and experience
• Interpersonal relationship and communication skills
• Change management skills, open minded and support for change
• Ability to work in a complex and dynamic environment
• Fluent in English; French and other languages are a plus
Specific business understanding
• Good understanding of the impact of the energy transition and key change trends in the energy and industry sectors
• Good understanding of the operational and commercial dimensions of GBU Renewables activities
