The Head of Digital Health has the responsibility to develop, lead, and implement digital health strategy and programs within Global Drug Development (GDD), R&D . In this capacity, this individual will work closely with development teams (early and late), who have digital health ambitions within the therapeutic area. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
·Develop integrated and actionable global strategy for digital health such as digital apps, digital medicine or algorithms to support GDD portfolio, in a highly collaborative manner with the therapeutic area head, clinical development leaders, IT and BD partners.
·Define why, when, and how GDD should pilot and scale digital health programs - and when it should not. Establish the use cases and value proposition for development investment.
·Create and refine an effective path and process from strategy to execution that considers options such as internal development as well as external partnerships.
·Ensure adoption of methodologies utilized by lean start-ups that allows for speed, agility, patient experience, combined with effective decision-making within a large and matrixed organization.
·Provide digital health leadership across a wide range of business activities and stakeholders. Mentor, advise, and lead Digital Health function across all therapeutic areas
·Challenge the status quo to adopt new approaches. Embodies a collaborative leadership mindset, subject matter expertise, and willingness to listen, share, and learn from a cross-functional team. This leader helps bridge the gap between the traditional pharma capabilities / processes and the digital health / technology space.
Key Accountabilities:
•Serves as single point of accountability for digital strategy for development assets
•Delivers high quality digital assets which have the potential for improved patient experience, better patient outcomes, or accelerates clinical program
•Leads collaboration with cross company expertise and utilizes advisory groups and governance bodies to define, revise, and champion digital asset development strategies and implementation plans
•Communicates and collaborates with senior leaders, functional area stakeholders, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of digital program strategy and operational plans with functional area capabilities (including IT)
•Provides leadership in Health Authority engagement relating to digital health
•Maintains successful track record of leading through influence in complex situations
•Brings vision and breadth of drug development expertise including extensive working knowledge in the drug development process, and leads integration across functions (e.g. clinical, regulatory, medical etc.)
•Navigates complex and dynamic internal and external healthcare environment; brings a broad understanding of domestic and international issues relative to digital health
•Develops and promotes a workplace culture that values diversity of thought, promotes integrity, and creates an atmosphere that supports coaching and fosters accountability
•Supervises Digital Health Leads and may oversee a TA digital strategy
•Provides ongoing feedback, coaching, empowerment, and career development, with a high focus on engagement and retention, to support the team of Digital Health Leads and maximize their potential
