Who are we?

The MHRA is transforming to be a world class regulator through making the right benefit risk judgements and delivering the right outcomes for patients. We have an exciting opportunity in our Healthcare Quality and Access group for a new Head of Devices, Compliance and Audit. You will deliver regulatory oversight assurance throughout the lifecycle of medical devices and be responsible for the development and strategic oversight ensuring that the Agency is agile and effective in its responsibilities.

What’s the role?

The successful candidate in this high profile and influential leadership role will be accountable for the devices compliance and audit functions within the group. You will plan, coordinate, and deliver the development of strategic oversight of these key areas in line with the regulatory framework. You will lead a team of dedicated expert qualified staff responsible for monitoring the UK approved bodies and working with manufacturers to ensure compliance. In addition, this role will also be required to work closely with the Deputy Director Innovative Devices and function on ensuring there is synergy between the work across the groups and in line with wider strategic and regulatory developments for devices.

Responsibilities

With a demonstrable track record of successful strategic leadership and management capability at a senior level, the successful candidate will have significant experience of collaborating or communicating across different government departments, bodies, or external partners.

You will be able to engage with internal and external stakeholders at the highest level and be adept at leading and managing the performance of a high performing team of staff. Your ability to manage complex negotiations and problems ideally both from a scientific and a business perspective will be vital to your success in the role.
