QRS are working on behalf of Peterborough College/UCP and have an exciting opportunity for a HE Practice Tutor/Assessor in Early Years and Education to join the team on a part-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing assessing and mentoring support to Higher Education students on the designated programme to support the overall achievement of the required standards and outcomes associated with the Foundation Degree programme.
Role Responsibilities
Undertaking placement visits at agreed intervals to assess student practice and to coach and support their embedding of academic knowledge within their placement setting.
Develop good working relationships with settings is fundamental to support both students development opportunities and to promote networking and growth opportunities for the programme.
Conduct objective, evidence-based assessments to inform student progression by assessing competence, knowledge and understanding to national standards, as embedded within the placement programme.
Mentor and support students to apply Foundation Degree academic knowledge to the practice learning environment.
Visit leaners at agreed intervals to ensure progression of learning aims and outcomes.
To monitor and plan students’ progress using on-line systems, as adopted by the University.
To act as a personal tutor and mentor in the workplace.
Assess and confirm suitability of placements, including the collection of relevant employer data and information.
Monitoring the progress of students throughout practice learning and proactively intervening if a student is at risk of failing or making unsatisfactory progress.
Internally verify the assessment process according to established guidelines including awarding body requirements and University Centre Peterborough internal quality assessment processes.
The person & qualifications
Hold a Level 2/GCSE in Maths and English at grade C or above.
Level 6 Qualified within the relevant subject.
TAQA Level 3 Assessor award or equivalent is desirable.
TAQA Level 4 or equivalent is desirable.
