The Hadoop Engineer (Infrastructure Engineering Senior Advisor) will be responsible for infrastructure engineering and administrating the Hadoop ecosystem. The candidate provides counsel and advice to top management on significant Database Administration & Management matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. Develops the most complex database systems for the organization. Coordinates with senior leaders to determine requirements. Analyzes, designs, creates and implements complex databases including access methods, device allocations, validation checks, organization, and security. Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices. Liaisons with software vendors and external technical support on issues such as software upgrades, problems, and potential solutions. Reviews systems under development and related documentation. May participate in vendor selection and relationship management. Leads project teams, monitoring project schedules, and costs. Focuses on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines. Recognized internally as “the go-to person” for the most complex Hadoop Administration.

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $25K

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure engineering, design, development, and support of Hadoop systems
• Initiates corrective actions to stay on schedule. Installs, upgrades, and tests complex big data deployments.
• Develops and implements recovery plans and procedures
• Implement and maintain complex HIVE, HBASE, and IMPALA environments
• Solve difficult technical challenges
• Collaborate with other teams to solve technical issues
• Maintain detailed documentation of database Design/Architecture and setup.
• Participates in 24/7 on-call support

Qualifications

• High School diploma; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Bachelor or Master's Degree in computer science or any related fields preferred.
• 5 years of experience in Hadoop platform administration – Cloudera Distribution preferred.
• 5 years of experience in Linux environment.
• 5 years of experience in coding languages like Python, Java, c, c++, etc.
• 5 years of experience in shell scripting.
• 5 years of experience  in Agile Scrum/Kanban
• 5 years of experience in developing automation using Ansible, Ansible Tower, Jenkins, etc.
• Working experience with BI Tool integration with Hadoop.
• Working experience with implementing and supporting Teradata Query Grid on Cloudera Distribution.
• Working experience with solving HBASE, HIVE, IMPALA performance issues.
• Working experience with Hadoop monitoring using Cloudera Manager, Splunk, etc.
• Working experience with major Hadoop software upgrades.
• Experience in networking concepts, authentication mechanisms like LDAP/Kerberos
• Experience in container applications like Docker, Kubernetes, Openstack, etc.
• Solid engineering and administrative knowledge of Apache Hadoop and related projects is a must.
• Proactively work on identifying and fixing database-related issues.
• Experience working learns quickly and adapts to handle ambiguous situations.
• Experience working under pressure and to deadlines.
• Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with working in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
• Flexible supporting on-call rotation 24x7.

This role is WAH which allows work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite. Currently, we are encouraging all employees to remain working from home and all onsite meetings require a virtual option.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
