Group Technology Head of LPM, QBR and Strategic Tooling

The Technology division is a key global strategic function within the HSBC DBS organization! With an annual budget of circa USD 5bn and a staff of approximately 45,000. Global Technology supports all areas of the HSBC Group business with core Technology infrastructure, networks and telecommunications and desktop technologies. In addition to the “Run the bank” functions, the Technology team deliver a significant programme of change activity (circa. $3bn direct costs).

 

Forming part of the broader Technology function, WPB Technology is a critical source of Innovation driving the adoption of Agile together with global WPB Business.

 

WPB Technology is undergoing a significant transformation to new, agile ways of working that builds closer business partnerships and more focused delivery for our customers. Significant strides have been made over the past 18 months in reshaping the macro WPB Technology organisation and establishing the designs, patterns and concepts that underpin the future operating model.

 

Reporting in to the Group Tech Head of Agility and WPB Tech Head of Agility & LPM, the Group Tech Head of LPM & QBR will:

 

  • Lead the design and implementation of Lean Portfolio Management standards and governance that will apply across Group Technology GBGFs
  • Own the design and implementation of the QBR process, OKR reporting framework visualisations and roadmap for adoption across Group Technology
  • Provide standard methodology relating to LPM & QBR, both in design, application and implementation, to Group Technology and HSBC more broadly
  • Run effective design governance ensuring coordination of forums, collation of all vital documents, effective facilitation and knowledge share
  • Ensure effective critical metrics are in place to measure LPM & QBR alignment and effectiveness, and supervise maturity accordingly
  • Support Group Technology GBGFs in the application of LPM and QBR in their areas
  • Lead a team of LPM & QBR SMEs for Group Technology, supporting CIOs in resolving all issues directly or indirectly impacting the application of LPM & QBR principles across Group Technology
  • Lead all aspects and govern the construction and enactment of implementation plans for LPM & QBR across all Group Technology GBGFs
  • Ensure all LPM & QBR colleagues are strong practitioners and understand the Group Technology operating model principles that relate to QBR & LPM to enable ongoing design and implementation which is fit for purpose within each GBGF
 

Qualifications

 

What you will bring to the role;

 

To be successful in this role you should have;

 

  • Very solid grasp of Scaled Agile principles, with experience and working in scaled agile environment
  • Very strong applied knowledge of Lean Portfolio Management principles
  • Strong knowledge of Technology, business, and operational practices and processes and their interdependences
  • Experience working in a consultative manner with senior partners, specifically in operating model design and implementation
  • Experience managing complex enterprise wide business and IT programmes within FTSE100 companies
  • Commercially viable and understands digital platforms, services and underlying processes
  • Very strong collaboration, influencing and relationship building skills. Proven at delivering effective and successful change in a matrix environment
  • Strong people leadership, team work, judgement and decision making, and communication competencies
  • Consultancy approach and skillset with the ability to identify and articulate sophisticated problems and solutions
  • Respectful and cognizant of the advantages of different working cultures, working with colleagues from across all 5 regions (North America, LATAM, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe

 

 

This role can be based in London or Hong Kong.
