An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Group Protection Scheme Underwriting Team.

We are looking for a standout colleague who can collaborate with the team as we work closely together to provide an outstanding, personalised, profitable, and high-quality underwriting service to our customers. As a team we work together to ensure all decisions made are aligned to our underwriting philosophy within the limits set by Group Protection Actuarial.

The role-holder will have daily contact with Distribution and customers - requiring business knowledge, tact and influencing skills. This person will be responsible for risk assessment and pricing, up to agreed authority limits and deliver quality technical advice to internal and external enquiries.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Underwriting, authorising, and issuing quotes.

• Writing, confirming risk and enrolling new business schemes.

• Retaining and renewing existing business schemes.

• Monitoring the team mailbox and input quotes onto the quote system.

• Developing in line with authority level steps.

• Building positive relationships with dedicated points of contact.

• Supporting transformation including digital.

• Supporting/influencing the growth and maintenance of a positive working environment through ongoing changes.

• Travel may be required (including the possibility of overnight stays) for training.

Skills & Experience required:

• Knowledge of underwriting and risk evaluation with an ability to apply in differing circumstances within set authority levels.

• Knowledge of impacting legislation and willingness learns.

• Good knowledge of Group Protection product ranges and supporting systems would be great to see.

• Customer focused business experience.

• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with cross site teams.

• Track record of an analytical approach with a high level of attention to detail.
