To ready and embed the organization with new technologies in the area of Shopper, Retail and Customer; by identifying new capabilities that step-change how/what Mars innovates in retail space (how our category comes to life) and spotting & co-piloting with Segment Category Management Team teams new approaches to selling (where our products/categories are sold). Shift from being standard manufacturer to being an innovative, test-and-learn-culture organization that Customers & Retailers want to work with.
What are we looking for?
- Master degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics or Human Sciences.
- Experience in a research position (e.g. CMI, Research Institute, University), retail/merchant, or technology-based organization experience of at least 7 years.
- High command of English required.
- Proven track record of spotting, testing assumptions & commercialize, and deploy tools/methodologies/technology in a business environment
- Proven influencing, networking, communication and analytical skills
- Experience of multi-country/cultural working environment (global or regional)
- Experience in working with agencies and multiple stakeholders
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Ensure Mars has a constant pulse on the latest technologies in the retail and shopping landscape.
- Create a network of agencies & industry experts that will provide Mars with a pulse of innovative possibly meaningful changes to come.
- Develop an approach to create & disseminate information in a manner that ensures flow of knowledge in this space (including new forum and use Mars growth centers).
- Design & Deploy testing of these technologies for harnessing better learning of our shoppers & customers and/or where we may see other values.
- Identify & Commercialize/Scale new channels of shopping; lead initiatives with segments to understand viability of new channels and scale the ones that prove to have benefit to Mars business. e.g., Voice/Conversational Commerce
- Spot new & viable approaches to selling that our organization is not yet exploring.
- Design and deploy ways to test & learn on the viability and ways to commercialize and benefit from the new tech/channel.
- Disseminate learnings and drive commercialization and scale of the said technology (this may include webinars, training, workshops.
- Drive exploration & deployment of new standard tools and applications that transform and improve innovate and bring things to customers / retails. (e.g., Virtual Reality)
- Explore and bring to life how a tool can be used and improve our current approach to innovating in category at retail. This will include standardizing what can and can’t be used with a tool
- Deploy MCMI tools and applications in close partnership with segment stakeholders (CMI, Category Team – both global and local teams)
- Create and align the optimal business processes to maximize value from existing toolkits. Ensure tools and processes are continuously deployed and applied, monitor usage and support with ad-hoc segment request.
- Together with external partners and business stakeholders, evolve the suite of standardized Mars CMI tools to support research and development across all markets.
- Act as Segment Global Point of Contact for Technology Innovation in Retail/Shopper in MCMI
- Proactively build relationships with segment Category Leadership, Customer Teams, Digital Tech, Marketing, and CMI stakeholders.
- Be the global point of contact for segment associates queries on Retail & Customers. Ensure two-way communication is established between MCMI and Segment teams.
