Job Description
Lead efforts of internal and external mechanical design for manufacturing review with global manufacturing teams in all new product launch activities. Conducts operational feasibility studies for new product and new manufacturing process introduction in the factory environment. Engages management and teams to determine feasibility/potential of projects
Represents Worldwide Operations from a product perspective. Creates factory strategies and plans for Worldwide Operations based on product plans and roadmaps. Utilizes metrics to improve new production, introduction process and product quality, at launch and throughout life of the program. Ensures Operations achieves Ready to Ship Release and transactions into production/sustaining. Utilizes Program Review Process (PrP)/Phase Gate Process to transition products from definition through to the sustaining phase. Drives action plans and strategies to reduce overall manufacturing transformation cost. Drives quality improvements by risk assessment/mitigation eliminating sources of defects in the design, supplier, new product introduction and manufacturing processes. Drives continuous improvement in PrP process, product manufacturability and flexibility, and operations cycle time and quality.
Responsibilities
- Brainstorms potential projects; identifies opportunities for improvement and begins the communication process with team members and management Expands the scope of the task across your functional area initiates corrective actions for their functional area and extended teams
- Designs and implements significant portion of project plan with coaching; co-leads project team as required; understands key resources required for project; tracks progress of project plan across multiple organizations and across functions
- Demonstrates good judgment in routine decision making; recognizes when caught up in trivial matters; asks for help to set priorities Knows where to get information to complete analyses; integrates available data into a logical and coherent structure for analysis; isolates the problem Active participant in core team and develops plans and actions
- Follows and manages launch schedule template ID’s moderate NUDDs (New, Unique, Different and Difficult) and develops mitigation plans Follows template to develop FP (Functional Plan) for moderate/complex product launches Follows build guidelines for all engineering and production builds Develops containment & root cause for simple excursions Develops GC (Golden Configs) for less complex products Develops BOMs (Bill of Material) for new products with limited complexity

Essential Requirements
- 8+ years of mechanical design related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree; or 3+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of global computer products/peripherals industry
- Able to identify, prioritize and influence absolute requirements into product designs
- Various engineering discipline and development / manufacturing process knowledge.
- Advanced command skills to assist in the implementation and execution of programs and initiatives
