Job Description

Global Health & Welfare Director is responsible for the design and development of innovative health and welfare benefit programs that are positioned as part of a competitive Total Rewards package for employees. The Director is responsible for ensuring the Company’s health and welfare policies globally are employee focused, competitive and in compliance with legal requirements and aligned to the Company’s Global Benefits strategy. The Director provides health and welfare benefit expertise and leadership in the design of health and welfare programs, the evaluation and selection of suppliers, consultants, and other business partners, including the negotiation of fees and contracts. The Global Health & Welfare Director provides HR, People Services and business leaders insights on benefit program effectiveness and trends in the market. The Director is externally connected, involved in professional associations and other benefit venues to understand the external environment monitoring leading and emerging practices to shape the future of the Company’s benefit programs.

What You’ll Do for Us: 

  • Serve as an integral member of the Global Benefits organization working across multiple regions and functions, including but not limited to Total Rewards, People Services, Legal and Finance.
  • Responsible as part of the Total Rewards – Global Benefits team in the development of global strategies for benefits, with focus on health and welfare benefit plans and programs.
  • Serve as a global benefits subject matter expert, developing innovative health and welfare solutions aligned to the Company’s Global Benefits strategy and broader Total Rewards strategy.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of global, regional and local benefit programs to ensure they are relevant, compliant and consistent with our strategy.  Design and recommend necessary changes or improvements.
  • Engage with the Company’s global captive insurance partners to identify areas of opportunity within plan design(s), program offerings and/or benefit financing.
  • Provide strategic consulting expertise to internal and external business partners in the design, implementation, administration, interpretation and communication of Global Benefit policies and programs globally.
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to inform evolution of strategies, consider and integrate feedback, and build action plans to address identified needs aligned with the overall Global Benefits and Total Rewards strategies.
  • Design and develop templates, decision matrices and processes so programs are assessed and evaluated on a consistent basis throughout the world.
  • Assist in the development of reporting metrics and benchmarking regarding plan performance and costs, including risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in the communication and valuation of benefit programs at the country level to develop cost assessment(s) relative to the market and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Special Projects – Additional responsibilities may be assigned as part of annual business planning process.

Qualifications & Requirements:  

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years working in a consulting, global benefits or total rewards function with a strong background in design, development, and delivery of benefit programs for large multinational company.
  • Knowledge of emerging global market trends, cultural and competitive practices and legislation.
  •    Strong analytical skills and comprehension of insurance underwriting and actuarial concepts.
  •    Strong negotiation skills.
    •    Sense of urgency, attention to detail and accuracy, well organized and able to prioritize.
  •    Strong leadership skills.
  •    Operates as a global leader with understanding and appreciation for regional differences.
  •    Strong understanding and working knowledge of benefits laws and regulations.
    •    Strong PC and systems skills (e.g., Workday, SAP, automated benefit systems, etc.).
  •    Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
