Job Description

Responsibilities

The Global Health and Safety Specialist is a professional role and supports the company at the corporate level. This role has responsibility for promoting industrial safety to assure employee well-being, regulatory compliance and supporting corporate safety objectives.  Works independently and has experience leading teams in safety improvements and injury prevention processes to drive the company towards our goal of a zero-incident mindset. 

Responsibilities:
•    Champion company safety programs to engage team members and promote a committed safety culture
•    Maintain and manage company policies and procedures related to health and safety (lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fall protection, etc.)
•    Lead and/or participate on corporate projects related to improvement in injury performance.
•    Able to perform field visits for the purpose of auditing programs, health and safety consultation as needed, resolution of safety issues, and ensuring safe work practices are followed
•    Be a member of the Industrial Safety Team. 
•    Learn and provide guidance for the company incident management system. Train new users and provide insight for users to gain the most value from the system. 
•    Identify important safety opportunities and develop plans to close gaps with means to track improvement initiatives to closure
•    Be proficient in health and safety related data analytics. 
•    Develop injury reduction methods, procedures and programs
•    Investigate injuries and other significant safety related events
•    Deliver training on health and safety related topics 

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Safety or Health (or related major) from an ABET accredited college or university  
Professional Certification Preferred such as CSP or CIH 

Experience Required: 
•    Work experience in an industrial setting; chemical industry preferred. Corporate level work preferred. 
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office.
•    Ability to perform work indoors and outdoors. Work may involve climbing, working in congested areas, and working around chemical process equipment.
