The Global Financial Controls Manager role will evaluate Segment, Shared Service and Business Unit alignment with established financial control frameworks, manage the self-audit process and create dashboards for management guidelines and will work closely with Mars Global Services - Finance (shared services or “MGSFâ€) and MGS Digital Technologies (IT or “MGS DTâ€).
Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems equivalent) required
Professional Certification such as CPA, CIA, CISA or PMP preferred
SAP GRC Certification or similar product preferred
8-10 years of experience in accounting, finance, IT or risk & control roles, with a focus for at least 6 years in roles practicing the technical knowledge and skills listed above
Experience with privately owned, global, decentralized organization
Experience with Big 4 public accounting, CPG, manufacturing, or service-based industries
Experience with business processes and controls, including opportunities for automation and standardization
Experience with one or several of the following: COSO, COBIT, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance programs, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Experience with one or several of the following: SAP Financials, SAP HANA, Oracle Financials, Oracle Cloud, PowerBI, Tableau
Experience in human-centered-design and/or design-thinking mindset and techniques
Support and Enhance Financial Controls Framework
Assist in developing and fostering governance and control culture within the organization, including communication of guidance about control requirements
Support enhancement of financial controls framework, including development of additional business cycles and risk assessment as well as modification for business change including increased shared services and outsourcing
Identify opportunities to optimize and/or streamline controls and ensuring they are efficient and effective
Provide input to financial control and access management policies
Propose updates to the risk framework, segregation of duties ruleset and global compensating controls in order to maintain an appropriate control environment for Mars, Incorporated transactional financial systems.
Support identification and evaluation of automated controls across financial systems
Provide direction based on professional risk/control experience to avoid or minimize potential risks
Ensure global associates have been trained on policies and requirements, including support of training development and conducting one-on-one ad hoc trainings
Evaluate Compliance with Financial Controls Framework and Access Control Standards
Perform ongoing review of documented financial controls and walkthroughs of control performance with Business Units. The goal of this review will be both to identify existing gaps and to provide insight about existing control guidance.
Document existing business processes across regions/segments via flowcharts, narratives, etc.
Analyze, implement and monitor compliance using SAP GRC and ensuring alignment with governance policies and procedures
Communicate with management and other personnel throughout the organization about potential control gaps identified and brainstorm solutions
Work collaboratively with business units, process owners, access security team(s), Information Security, Access Management SPOCs in business units and internal/external audit to identify and resolve control gaps, SoDs issues and excessive user access.
Digital Risk Management
Support the definition, communication and ongoing compliance of digital control standards
Partner with key digital transformation leaders to understand the scope of projects and to ensure control requirements are being met
Utilize design thinking techniques and user centric mindset to analyze key financial control requirements, tools and processes
