Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill’s Global Engineering Discipline Capability Centre is a part of the Global Capital Projects across Cargill. As a member of the Global Engineering, you will collaborate closely with Business Group operations leadership, build project managers, plant managers, manufacturing technology leaders, global strategic sourcing, and Global/Regional/Plant Reliability Excellence groups.

You will work with fellow discipline engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to Standardize Global Engineering Processes, Develop Cargill Engineering Capability and Capture Cost opportunities through Engineering. You will lead Talent Development and Education.

You will partner globally across the organization to ensure corporate and regulatory standards for environmental, health and safety and product safety and quality are aligned globally for end-to-end engineering processes while delivering more efficient and effective global plant operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, govern, and continually improve engineering standards, policies, and procedures to ensure global alignment and compliance with regulatory and industry standard to enable efficiency gains with the goal to improve safety, cost and schedule performance in capital build projects and operations.
  • Lead internal and external benchmarking of Engineering Discipline standards to ensure appropriate level or risk management in our facilities designs and improve competitiveness of our Build Projects designs to achieve the right total cost of ownership of the sites.
  • Collaborate with global environmental health and safety and food safety to ensure functional requirements are integrated in our global standards.
  • Collaborate with global strategic sourcing (procurement) manufacturing technology and reliability excellence to define the right sourcing strategies for vendor categorise and optimize to total cost of ownership.
  • Partner with regional capability centres, global functions, and businesses to define support needed on respective strategy, trends and competitive intelligence.
  • Lead the tactical development and delivery oversight of vision, direction and strategy for instrumentation and engineering.
  • Provide Engineering Discipline guidance & advisement to regional Capability Centres (eg. Capital, Reliability) and key Engineering Discipline projects in facilities (eg. Operate/maintain).
  • Support the overall succession planning and talent for Instrumentation Engineering Discipline function, govern Instrumentation Engineering Discipline training, education and as needed required certifications. Define Instrumentation Engineering Discipline knowledge-proficiency requirements at identified levels.
  • Capturing and sharing Instrumentation Engineering Discipline knowledge of Cargill between capability centres and businesses by identifying and leading Instrumentation Centre of Expertise and Community of Practice.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in an engineering discipline position or related Build (construction) project position
  • Proven experience creating engineering discipline content and standards optimized for total cost of ownership within acceptable risk tolerances
  • Proven experience working with technical subject matter experts and cross-function experts in the engineering work process to produce engineering deliverables for construction projects
  • Proven ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, and relate / compare facts from different sources to identify solutions to complex technical problems
  • Proven strong influencing skills, ability to work across the organization and multiple functions
  • Business fluency in English
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineering License 
  • Experience creating engineering standards and specifications for an owner operator
  • Experience working on projects in the food and agricultural industry
  • Working knowledge of PIP standard engineering content and experience with application to corporate and/or project engineering standards
  • Possesses a combination of advanced engineering expertise and experience executing projects with data centric 3D design applications (SmartPlant)
  • Possesses an understanding of fundamentals of information flows and work processes associated with engineering of capital projects
  • Experience with Process Industry Practices (PIP)
  • Knowledge of standards but not limited to: OSHA, IBC, ACI, ASCE,EN-ISO
