Role purpose

A new opportunity has arisen for an OSS Technical Design Specialist within our Networks Domain.  You will be responsible for the design, development, documentation and delivery of OSS Geographic Information System (GIS) & inventory solutions within the OSS Support & Readiness Domain. 

Responsibilities

Your role will be to evaluate new Network and IT technologies, ensure systems are aligned to Vodafone strategy, meeting customer requirements and ensuring a sustainable support model. Working with various teams to define and validate solutions are fit for purpose, carry out lab testing and PoC validation as required.

You will work across multiple functions with colleagues in OSS, IT Architecture, Network Architects, Service Designers, Business Analysts, customers, and vendors to provide input into strategic roadmaps for GIS solutions and develop and deliver both large and small development enhancements. You will be responsible for technical external deliveries to ensure they are fit for purpose, and sustainable for ongoing support.  Your ability to build relationships with vendors and 3rd parties to enhance future deliveries will be key.

In addition, you will produce high quality, comprehensive and coherent IT specifications; Input for business cases & impact assessments;  Lead the vendor engagements; Ensure technical deliveries are on time, in budget, and to the desired standard.   As the SME, you will provide support for live deployments and third-line operational support teams in fault resolution where detailed OSS knowledge is required (ARC GIS being the primary system).
 

Who are we looking for?

• Knowledge and design experience of GIS solutions and systems such as ESRI’s ArcGIS.  
• Appreciation of key network technologies/protocols including 3G, 4G, 5G, TCP/IP, MPLS, DWDM, OTN, NFV/SDN, SSL/TLS, SSH, IP-VPN & SNMP
• Experience of agile & waterfall delivery methodologies
• Previous experience in an OSS/Network design.
• Appreciation or development experience of ArcGIS & GE Smallworld
