Job summary
Amazon’s Immigration Team is growing its best-in-class professional service to deliver exceptional immigration support and services to Amazon businesses, employees, candidates, and other internal stakeholders in Germany.
This role will report into the German Immigration Manager and will be the central point of contact between employees, HR/recruitment/other internal stakeholder groups and the immigration authorities; providing tailored immigration advice and end-to-end immigration assistance.
Key job responsibilities
• Act as a subject matter expert providing written and verbal German immigration advice and procedural information to Amazon employees, family members and internal partner teams on a range of immigration applications• Provide accurate documentation to employees, internal stakeholders and the authorities. Balance big picture thinking while paying close attention to detail to ensure smooth delivery• Own employee immigration processes from end-to-end, providing regular, responsive and proactive updates; delight employees with clear, concise and carefully considered communications at every step in the process• Develop tailored immigration strategies to address complex circumstances• Interpret a wide array of internal and external policy and process resources to obtain, simplify, and operationalise information and strategy• Interpret legislation and application of German immigration law, supporting legislative or policy changes• Drive and support the development of a successful German immigration program by identifying process improvement opportunities and creating enhanced systems and policies• Engage, collaborate and partner with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance obligations are met. Develop protocols and frameworks to strengthen and streamline the compliance culture in Germany• Respond to escalations by conducting deep dive analysis on root causes and developing swift remedial actions. Provide recommendations for case-level and programmatic enhancements to improve overall user experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Completed Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent (directly relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree)• Extensive experience managing German corporate immigration cases• Excellent command of English and German (proficient user C1)• Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook• Project management experience including development and implementation of process improvement plans and coordination of high-volume caseload• Experience of working in a global matrixed environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience resolving complex immigration issues independently and taking ownership in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances• Extensive knowledge of immigration trends and processes in Germany• Experience of building and enhancing a German immigration program• Experience providing guidance to employees, managers, recruiters, or HR on highly sensitive, confidential matters• Ability to adapt to change and collaborate effectively at all levels, in a highly matrixed environment• Solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgement
