  • Demonstrated knowledge of MOD-025, MOD-026, and MOD-027 testing and verifications.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review generator models for new and existing renewable resources to meet ISO and NERC requirements.
  • Validate generator models with substation schematics, inverter/turbine settings, power plant controller behavior, and generator properties.
  • Support MOD-025, MOD-026, and MOD-027 testing and verifications.
  • Review modeling studies for generator ride-through requirements.
  • Oversee consultant work for plant models - PSLF, PSSE, PSCAD, Aspen.
  • Find and implement efficiencies in modeling process from facility studies to as-built models.
  • Communicate with manufacturers, contractors, and external consultants to ensure accurate models with as-built parameters.
  • Track and implement generator model upgrades per ISO and NERC requirements.
  • Guide projects under development for compliance with technical PRC, MOD, and FAC standards.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of generator modeling.
  • Strong experience in the use of one or more software tools such as Siemens PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSLF.
  • Experience with Aspen for short circuit studies.
  • Excellent understanding of PQ curves for both inverter-based technologies and wind turbines.
  • Excellent understanding of inverter-based technology operations and inverter settings.
  • Understanding of PRC-019, PRC-024, and MOD-032.
  • Proficient in reading substation and PPC control schematics.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions among HV EPCs, Power Utilities, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Able to review complex analysis and can develop formal documentation, technical reports, and presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
  • Project management experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, MS preferred.
