Job Description
The objective of the General Manager is to drive profitable growth within the Performance Tapes North America business. This position will have full profit and loss and operating responsibility for the Performance Tapes North America business. The ideal candidate will define and lead the strategic plans and model the behaviors of success for the Performance Tapes North America business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct P&L responsibility and leadership.
Lead the development and implementation of regional specific strategies.
Drive continuous improvements in productivity and profitability.
Establish a clear direction, and set challenging goals, including goals and budgets with the finance team for individual operating departments.
Monitor overall performance against annual operating and profit plans.
Achieve the highest possible level of return on assets and investment.
Develop and maintain a strong, collaborative relationship with customers, strategic partners, management, and the corporate office.
Identifies critical opportunities and problems, and provides well-tested strategies for driving the decision to pursue through to a close.
Take a clear ownership stake in the relationships and initiatives with customers required for success.
Train and provide development opportunities for staff. Ensure annual goals are complete and communicated. Deliver clear performance management and regular feedback to staff members.
Attract, retain and develop diverse high potential talent.
Model and promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values and Leadership Principles.
Perform general management duties, exercising usual authority concerning staff, performance appraisals, promotions and terminations. Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.
Act as a team role model and change-agent.
Be an inclusive leader able to gain diverse perspectives and input from all levels of the organization
Positively lead and influence diverse team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals
Act as a strong champion to the business’ sustainability efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or equivalent required. Master’s degree preferred.
12+ years business experience within the PSA tapes, labels, or converting industries.
Make, implement and manage difficult decisions that may create internal and external conflicts. Innovative problem solving character.
Sales-oriented, Marketing-oriented and Operations-oriented. Previous Sales leadership experience is preferred.
Effective organizational / executive presence. Confident to act independently.
Strong analytical and financial management skills.
Global business acumen.
Ability to operate in a technically driven organization
Demonstrated record of accomplishments in business development and growth market creation, and possess a firm understanding of the drivers and components for success in strategic marketing.
Deep exposure to a manufacturing business and its constituent functional areas.
Demonstrated success in cross-regional projects or initiatives.
Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs and function specific software e.g. Salesforce.com.
Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
