The Machine Operator is responsible for working safely and efficiently to set up, operate, troubleshoot and maintain all machinery on the production floor while ensuring all finished product meets food safety and quality requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not all inclusive):

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Pre-inspect work station(s) to ensure all equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Maintain a clean and organized production area to promote a safe work environment.
  • Follow LOTO procedures.
  • Perform hourly checks, consistently and timely.
  • Verify lot and sell by codes on bags and labels for accuracy.
  • Maintain and demonstrate a thorough understanding of processing specifications for varying products and materials.
  • Match material item numbers and lot codes to corresponding product accurately.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of electronic inventory tracking system (SAP).
  • Order and receive materials.
  • Perform pre/post sanitation tasks to clean and sanitize all production equipment as necessary.
  • Effectively and safely operate, perform preventative maintenance, and perform corrective maintenance on the following equipment in order to meet or exceed planned performance measures;
    • 4 Kettle automated popping system (G-Zilla)
    • Hayssen Sandiacre vertical form fill and seal machine
    • Ishida scale
    • Xray inspection machine
    • Conveyors / Fastbacks
    • Rotating sifting drums
    • Popcorn kettles
    • Case labelers
    • Case sealers
    • Bag sealers
    • Other equipment necessary for operation
  • Control, maintain and repair equipment throughout the plant.
  • Assist with maintenance related improvement projects as needed.
  • Complete proper paperwork for maintenance work orders.
  • Education and/or Experience

    Mechatronics Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A background in food manufacturing or general manufacturing is preferred.
