Job Description

Summary

As Fundraising Planning and Projects Manager, you will be working alongside  the Fundraising Director, strategically planning and coordinating activities across multiple diverse income streams. As a member of the Fundraising Leadership Team, you will have an  overarching view of the Fundraising team’s planning, operations and delivery, building strong relationships with Fundraising Departmental Heads and understanding their income streams to ensure smooth running of the Fundraising Team.

We value diversity and are committed to being a truly inclusive organisation, with teams that reflect the diversity of our society. We strongly encourage and welcome a wide range of applicants across all identities and backgrounds.

Note: Internally this role will be known as Support & Revenue Executive

This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave.  At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months.

What it's like to work here

Probably not what you think. We work with passionate people in inspiring places and have the opportunity to make a difference every day. We have big ambitions, value creativity and diversity and want to work together in new, dynamic and innovative ways. We look after special places for ever, for everyone. We know the positive impact they have on people’s lives because places matter, to our wellbeing, our spirit and our relationships.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. In this role you will be the visible face and well-known representative for the Fundraising Team and Support & Revenue Directorate, so some travel to our head office to meet with the team and stakeholders will be required.

What you'll be doing

The National Trust Fundraising Team raises over £90 million every year for projects across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. And we have big ambitions to grow our income.

Your role is to pro-actively and reactively plan and coordinate a range of activities across the Fundraising Team. You will work at pace alongside your Fundraising Leadership Team colleagues to create compelling communications from diverse sources of information, initiate and implement effective ways of working, and work with senior stakeholders to deliver against strategic objectives.

In practice this could be anything from contributing to the creation and implementation of an income growth strategy, to preparing performance data for insights for the Executive Board, or preparing and editing written materials for the Fundraising Director.

You’ll have an opportunity to make this job your own, ready to bring a different perspective into the Fundraising Leadership Team, including as a bridge to the wider Fundraising function. You will actively collaborate with colleagues in the Support and Revenue Directorate to connect the dots and where relevant, drive consistency of approach across teams.

Who we're looking for

  • An ambitious individual, looking to build a career in fundraising and using this opportunity to identify areas of interest for further development
  • An experienced, pro-active planner, highly organised with an eye for detail and quality
  • A confident communicator, both written and oral, with experience of creating simple and compelling communications
  • A pro-active approach, confident to use own initiative to establish new ways of working and to share best practices
  • Proven ability to work at pace, adapt quickly to change, and work collaboratively with internal colleagues and senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead on multiple, varied processes and manage moving priorities efficiently in a timely manner
  • A good negotiator, confident managing conflicting opinions
  • An ability to interrogate diverse information and data sources, and reach appropriate conclusions
  • Experience of working within an income generating enterprise
  • Knowledge of Business Plans and strategies and how they sit within complex business environments
  • Knowledge of project management frameworks and change management

The package

The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.

Wherever you’re from, and whatever your background, we want to hear from you – and it doesn’t matter if you’re jam first, cream first, or even if you don’t like scones at all. Everyone is welcome.

Benefits for working at the National Trust include:

  • Flexible working whenever possible
  • Free parking at most locations
  • Free entry to our properties for you, a guest and your children (under 18)
  • Substantial pension scheme of up to 10% basic salary
