Material Supply Planning Manager

Mars Pet Nutrition in the United States is investing in materials management, material supply and material planning capability.  We are seeking a skilled and passionate leader to elevate our capabilities in this space, support our growth ambitions and creating better world for pets!

The Material Supply Management leader for PN USA is responsible to establish and capability for all the work processes in scope:

• Collaboration, planning, and execution of the tactical Material Requirement Plan (MRP)
• Develop 3–18-month Rough cut capacity planning for raw and pack materials
• Material management data optimization to driver ordering and stock optimization.
• Partnering with Commercial and R&D on material resilience, supplier qualification and agility
• Sourcing allocation across the North America supply chain network.
• Integrate the below the line initiative / activity launches that are not visible in the system into the material sufficiency plan.

The role covers the following aspects:

• Provides the material requirement plan for each material in PN USA category – including demand bias considerations and sensitivity analysis / scenarios.
• Leads the conversations with the supplier and the buyer to provide an accurate view of supply sufficiency and break down of material supply by supplier (allocation).
• Provides guidance to factories and sets up a ‘run to target’ system for material call off – within the allocation and within the agreed service level corridors (frozen, fix, firm, flexible zones defined)
• Owns, deploys and ensures material inventory models are sustained.  Assures system set up for buffer inventory.

This is a new role to the enterprise.  As such, it may be expanded in the future to cover aspects such as value stream mapping, end to end lead time reduction for materials, global commodity ownership & cross regional material allocation.

What are we looking for?

• End to End Integrated Planning  (supply and material planning focus)
• Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP)
• Managing demand variability via inventory, supply parameters & Agility
• Inventory management (inventory modeling & material parameters)
• Planning Systems Experience: Ideally Kinaxis, JDA and/or SAP ERP
• Cross Regional Sourcing and Allocation

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Lead Material Requirements Forecasting – methodology and definition of level of granularity
• Lead Material RCCP process for all suppliers agreed with Commercial
• Owns regional allocation matrix and process for deployment to factory planners
• As part of One Global Supply Chain, lead Global Material Requirements Forecasting in selected cross-regional supply chains
• Owns capacity to demand sufficiency process with suppliers and circles back to regional S&OP
• Defines planning principles with material call off owners – fix, frozen, firm period and change management process
• Works with procurement to close gaps through alternative options – success is measured in identifying unbalanced plans (insufficient C:D ratio) at least 6 months in advance.
