Job Purpose and Impact

The Transportation Claims Lead will lead the preparation and collection of transportation and logistics claims related to loss or damage to company product in transit. In this role, you will lead a team to work collaboratively between carrier representatives and business personnel to make product disposition decisions and figure out the end result for products including disposal, diversion or donation. You will work with various business stakeholders to ensure product loss or reduction in value is properly and timely communicated and accounted for and you will serve as liaison to collaborate with various internal stakeholders across business lines to align common processes and identify opportunities for improved communication and effectiveness.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead performance across various aspects of internal and external customer interactions including cost, budget, claims, food safety, safety requirements, customer solutions, incident tracking and resolution.
  • Serve as the claims domain expert and handle the transportation data maintenance and freight claims process in carrier claims research and collections of shipper claims.
  • Collaborate with other team functions and business members to effectively handle service and costs to meet strategic goals.
  • Establish controls to ensure data integrity and partner with stakeholders in the data space to trouble shoot system issues related to data quality and be the escalation point of contact for both activities.
  • Track key metrics, monitor performance and recommend and implement improvements based on benchmark standards to drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Partner with the sourcing team and business leads to communicate risks and carrier performance issues.
  • Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience with email, spreadsheet and word processing applications
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis processes
  • Ability to interpret transportation requirements based on product specifications
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

•    Certification as a claims professional
•    Two years of supervisory experience
•    Experience and familiarity with truck transportation equipment and carriers.
•    Master´s Degree
•    Background in lean Six Sigma.
•    Problem solving techniques
•    Carmack Amendment governing transportation claims
•    Knowledge of Knowledge of International and/or Freight Rail Claims
