Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Grind and condition tools for machine operator as required on drills, milling cutters, lathe tools, boring tools and any special cutters including broaches
• Read and interpret blueprints, gauges and meters which include micrometer calipers and a variety of measuring instruments
• Produce required tools for grinding if proper fixtures are not available
• Prepare tools and holders for performing special jobs
• Form grind special gauges as required
• Make recommendations and/or adjustments to cutting tool or holders
• Receive and issue re-sharpened tools along with new tools
• Silver solder or braze cutting tool tips and blanks to tool holders
   

 Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements

• Past technical education such as Tool and Die, or CNC Machining courses, and/or prior work experience in the related field.
