The Role

As the Health & Welfare Client Requirements Validation Squad Leader, you blend benefits administration knowledge, understanding of quality assurance and testing, leadership, and product development expertise with a passion for creating customer value and delivering results. 

As the product owner you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the scrum team mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities – specifically with driving scale to the testing process that ensures client requirements are configured accurately – driving business value to the Health Care Operations, Implementations, Migrations, and Client Service teams. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence broader strategic decisions, roadmaps and resource requirements, set and refine the mission, and bring together a team of chapter members to execute as a scrum team on specific product features and ensure respective products or services are available, stable, performant and supported when required and related cost and maintenance is managed. You will ensure alignment on the “what” and “when” work is to be performed by your scrum team through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will enable scrum team members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.

  • Providing leadership and direction to a scrum team that is focused on driving scale to the validation of client benefits administration requirements.  The scrum team will enhance and evolve the Client Validation Framework tool, as well as innovate to introduce new automation to drive scale.
  • Defining, refining, and communicating the squads' mission and roadmap to motivate and build team and partner support and alignment
  • Serving as thought leader and key decision maker for automated Client Validation, including standards, business architecture, and future state process.  Anticipating, discovering through ongoing interaction with, and prioritizing client / partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the scrum team.
  • Delivering business value (scale) in order to achieve the critical business objective of enabling growth in Health & Welfare. Measuring performance against established objectives and metrics that deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results.
  • Defining, evaluating, and communicating results against acceptance criteria.  Engages with stakeholders regularly to monitor and share progress.
  • Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments
  • Collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders and Scrum Masters to build squad capacity and capability and enabling squad member growth, development and learning
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines
  • Maintaining an understanding of client and market needs, preferences, and priorities

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Scrum Product Owner Certification (CSPO) and/or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or similar designations are a plus
  • 7+ years in product management, technology and/or business.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the Health & Welfare outsourced administration services business or client implementation process, preferred
  • Experience with and a strong understanding of software testing and quality assurance processes
  • Experience designing, developing and maintaining dynamic products and solutions
  • Hands-on agile leadership experience.
  • Jira and Jira Align experience preferred

  • You grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and optimally communicate these
  • You have a strong focus on execution and identify, communicate and remove impediments to progress

  • You continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working

You work in partnership with the H&W Associate Tools and Automation Product Area Leader, other H&W Client Requirements & Configuration Application (Benefits Builder) Squad Leaders, and the Scrum Master and Chapter Leaders aligned to your squad. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you sustain and evolve our innovative agile culture.  The team is focused on delivering client requirements, configuration, and validation automation that results in significant efficiencies for H&W Implementation, Migration, and ongoing client servicing processes to achieve critical strategic cost reduction objectives.
