The Domestic Senior Tax Analyst’s primary responsibilities are performing federal and state compliance processes and ensuring the Company is in compliance with tax laws. Additionally, the Domestic Senior Tax Analyst assists with the company’s financial income tax reporting, planning and tax audit activities, including supporting the SEC reporting function related to tax matters, assisting in the preparation of the tax footnote, and ASC 740 requirements related to both domestic and foreign activities. The development of effective working relationships with management, as well as finance and other operating personnel, is required.
Perform tax compliance processes related to the US federal and state income tax returns.
Proactively identify potential tax savings opportunities.
Research federal tax laws and track, analyze and communicate impacts of proposed federal tax law changes.
Assist with tax due diligence on potential acquisitions.
Provide tax guidance to business units on large domestic contracts.
Prepare and support responses to federal and state tax audit inquiries and meet with auditors as necessary.
Support tax accounting provision process for foreign and domestic operations under ASC 740 in accordance with a COSO Framework or Sarbanes-Oxley 404 on a quarterly basis, including calculation of tax consequences of foreign earnings not indefinitely invested (APB 23), reporting of income tax contingencies (FIN 48), return-to-provision true-up reviews, and supporting the company’s annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors.
Provide tax analysis for the Annual Report Footnote and SEC reporting.
Responsible for purchase accounting entries related to taxes, calculation of tax bases and maintenance of deferred tax accounts.
Assist with effective tax rate and cash tax forecasting.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Tax Manager
Experience: At least 5 years in a large corporate tax environment, which may be in industry, Big 4 or similar.
Education: CPA and Master of Accounting are preferred.
Desired Skills/Attributes:
Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, corporate and partnership income tax laws, and computer skills in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
Corporate experience with global operations strongly preferred.
Experience utilizing tax and research tools and software to maximize efficiency of tax compliance process (e.g., OneSource, CorpTax, CCH, RIA, BNA).
Experience with tax provision preparation software (e.g., OneSource).
Technical skill and compliance knowledge in U.S. federal income tax.
SOX compliance experience preferred.
Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
Detail oriented; strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills (oral/written) and interpersonal skills; solid team player.
