Role Overview
- Requires a self-starter, capable of operating autonomously in a role critical to project success; this role has visibility to project management.
- Takes initiative to coordinate the detailed development of permitting deliverables with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.
- Coordinates complex technical issues with other engineering departments on projects.
- Prioritizes tasks and operates within a fast-paced project environment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that projects are in compliance with state, federal, and country environmental permits and regulations, and in particular with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements.
- Supporting engineering and other project disciplines in understanding and applying regulatory requirements, based on permits and legislation.
- Developing execution strategies and planning for project permitting.
- Ensuring that regulatory approvals are in place to support project execution.
Skills and Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications and Competences
- A recognized degree in chemical, environmental or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university – other technical degrees with suitable experience may be considered
- Excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices and how to apply them for design execution
- Excellent understanding of major project delivery, including the design process and typical project design deliverables
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both written and orally
- Familiarity with major environmental regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes
- Working knowledge of US environmental legislation, experience with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience
Industry Experience: 
Relevant industrial experience in multiple types of facilities is preferred, such as:
- LNG plants
- Industrial wastewater treatment units
- Energy Transition (hydrogen production, CCS, methanol synthesis etc)
- Refining / Gas Processing / Petrochemical
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with regulatory requirements and approval processes with the FERC, USACE, PHMSA, USEPA, and state environmental agencies.
- Experience interfacing with regulatory authorities.
