Unilever's Deodorants Category manages the iconic brands of Sure/Rexona, Lynx/Axe, and Dove. The category is in an exciting phase as it focusses on innovation in technologies that benefit both our consumers and our planet.
This role will report to a Claims and Activation Manager. There will be two main components to the role: Claims & Activation, for all the global Deodorants Brands – Sure/Rexona, Lynx/Axe and Dove.
R&D Claims programme entails bringing innovation to life for consumers, through the creation and deployment of compelling, clear, and bold messages on our science and innovation.
Activation is the practice of bringing our excellent technology and product science to life through informing, educating, raising awareness of science-related topics, and increasing the sense of wonder about scientific discoveries and arguments, creating digital technical assets and demos.
JOB PURPOSE
Claims part of the role:
In this role you will make use of Unilever claims best practices to lead the claims development, support, and defence plans for some global innovations, partnering with key functions such as Marketing, Legal and Regulatory, as well as with R&D Claims counterparts in regional business units.
Activation part of the role:
In this role you will utilize a wide range of tools – videos, demos, animations, digital assets etc – to drive consideration and purchase of Unilever Deodorants Products amongst our key internal (regional business units) and external stakeholders (trade, PR influencers and consumers).
You will be using Storytelling to educate key audiences in an entertaining way, that captures their attention and make them care enough to listen and act.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Claims part of the role will involve:
· Lead the planning & execution of the technical claims programme for some of the global projects using a range of tools to maximise the product story, to bring innovation to life for consumers, creating the maximum amount of news from our science and innovation.
· Lead the creation of claims substantiation and defence dossiers/strategies, develop consumer relevant product claims by working closely with a range of partners, providing a critical link between R&D, Legal, Regulatory and Marketing, delivering outstanding communications for our innovations that are robustly supported with technical and consumer understanding.
· Creatively solve issues and provide alternative claims articulations that mitigate risk. Proficient in the use of creative language tools.
· Analyse and understand competitors’ claims environment relevant to the projects you work on, supporting competitors’ challenge activities where relevant.
· Act dynamically & flexibly in a multi-disciplinary business environment, providing a link between Consumer Technical Insight, Product Development, Claims & Activation teams within project teams.
· Support line manager in building Claims professional skills, encouraging rigour and discipline.
Activation part of the role will involve:
· Support Technical Project Leaders and their teams in the creation of technical assets that communicate scientific information, such as mode of action videos, demos, trade and eCom materials, etc, having in mind the relevant channels and audiences.
· Support Technical Project Leaders and their teams on interacting with external agency partners to generate necessary technical assets.
· Support line manager in developing new accreditation and credentialling partners with Marketing teams, including development of new testing methodologies.
· Support line manager in building Activation professional skills, encouraging rigour and discipline.

· Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a field of science
