The Plant NIR Specialist is responsible for executing the Near-IR (NIR) program for on-line/in-line/at-line methods including process monitoring, control, and release of raw materials, premixes, and finished products in compliance with CP Standards and Guidelines. This position provides technical support to the manufacturing facility in the areas NIR, rapid methods, and NIR equipment maintenance.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
-Execute NIR program including control charting, documentation, bias evaluation, and equipment maintenance This includes ensuring proper documentation & compliance for internal & external audits
-Collection of data for the development of NIR calibrations
-Troubleshoot issues related to the NIR processes and programs
-Support the development and validation of other rapid analytical methods to support manufacturing consistency and product quality.
-Implement and monitor SOP in compliance to CP Standards and train manufacturing staff to utilize developed methods and maintain instrumentation.
-Perform quality lab related tasks including but not limited to sampling, sample preparation, analytical data review.
-Provide support for troubleshooting of analytical methods and laboratory out-of-specification investigations related to rapid methods.
-Provide support to analytical lab as necessary for business needs to ensure accurate and timely analysis.
Education/ Experience Requirements
Basic qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field such as Food Science, Environmental Sciences,or Biology
2+ years of experience in analytical laboratory in food, consumer product or pharmaceutical industry
OR
Bachelor’s degree (not science related) with 3+ years’ experience in analytical laboratory in food, consumer product or pharmaceutical industry
Flexibility of working on any shift
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience in calibration development using chemometric software
Method development in a laboratory setting.
Strong ability & knowledge of Statistics and Statistical Process Control tools
