A Quality Engineer will design and modify as well as collaborate with primary staff members regarding protocol and methodology of quality engineering, technical, scientific and/or research topics. Perform moderately complicated quality engineering work exercising independent judgment and action.
SCOPE:
• Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the quality field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
• Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
• Work under only general direction. Independently determine and develop approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
• Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
• Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.
REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES:
• Demonstrate applied knowledge of quality engineering through a body of documented work, research or commercial product.
• Present information and effectively communicate with divisions and cross-functionally. Orally present findings to team and management.
• Manage knowledge/technology transfer and new product development. Generate new ideas for products.
• Write project plans. Determine timeline and resources for projects. Work with outside parties (i.e.: universities, development partners, other companies) to aid in successful project completion.
• Drive growth, cost reduction, yield and product quality improvements, capacity increases and EHS improvements.
• Maintain awareness of the advances in technology and competitive intellectual property (patents).
• Write technical reports and document research. Summarize critical results and observations. Verify reliability of data.
• Propose, design, prioritize, conduct and oversee multiple projects and lab experiments. Develop new test methods. Design statistical sets of experiments.
• Lead and conduct problem solving efforts and propose resolutions.
• Provide recommendations for capital purchases- equipment.
• Leverage internal and external experts in network to accomplish goals.
• May assist in conducting patent analyses, search and mapping.
• Safe and timely execution of experiments. Follow all lab safety procedures.
• Instruct lab and production personnel.
• Conduct library and topical research pertinent to projects, conduct experiments and studies and assess outcome, adapt continued studies based on theorization of findings, write and prepare final papers to support findings and submit evidence for publication.
• 4+ Years quality engineering, research, scientific or related experience with Bachelor’s Degree.
• 3+ years with Masters Degree.
• Demonstrated working knowledge/experience in quality assurance discipline.
• Previous contract manufacturing experience a plus.
• Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Google and function specific software.
• Strong math and analytical skills (statistical analysis and process control).
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Strong scientific and quality engineering knowledge.
• Strong verbal and written skills.
• Ability to interface effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.
• Knowledgeable on process documentation and improvement.
