Job Description

The Project Portfolio Officer will work with grant-funded implementing teams to strengthen prioritization, planning, coordination and management capabilities. S/he will develop tools and resources, provide writing and content development, coaching and mentorship to implementing staff.

Specific Responsibilities:

Assist program and team leads on the formulation and implementation of program strategies, work plans, and logical frameworks (setting goals, targets and performance standards for the portfolio of projects). Facilitate grant launches, regular meetings and project closeouts with grant-funded project teams to ensure strong ongoing management and accountability for results. Assist in aggregating reports regularly prepared on activities, outputs and outcomes. Support donor stewardship by drafting communication pieces and other related items, as required. Develop and maintain a knowledge management system for accessibly storing project resources. Support program and team leads in the preparation of donor reports, including drafting and editing sections, as needed. Together, with the Policy & Partnerships and leadership team, ensure alignment and cohesion of program strategies and approach to establishing a model county for UHC. Identify opportunities for PIH to leverage cross-program strengths to take advantage of new opportunities and/or to address organizational challenges. Develop and implement a system for tracking and reporting on the progress of the strategic plan implementation. Support project teams to consider sustainability and pursue continued funding for promising programs.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree strongly preferred in relevant public health or policy field At least three years of experience managing personnel, budgets, and/ or program activities Ability to be flexible and effective in the face of unexpected challenges Exemplary interpersonal communication skills required to interact effectively with senior leadership, partners, and clinicians on sensitive political and confidential issues. Ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and country. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Passion for social justice and the ability to function as both a teacher/learner Experience living and working in resource-limited environments is strongly preferred.
