Job Purpose/Overview
This role is responsible for performing various routine tasks in an assigned area of a Royal Canin manufacturing site following defined standard operating procedures and the direction of the Shift Manager and Packaging Team Lead. This role completes a variety of tasks including cleaning, hand packing product, monitoring controls, assisting with equipment changeover activities, and driving a forklift.
Key Responsibilities
Rotate through the various functions on the Packaging Line during the Shift.
Inspect packaging quality to ensure the packaging meets Mars expectations.
Inspect product while filling the bag to ensure the quality meets Mars Standards.
Ensure the date code is accurate and being applied.
Hand palletize as per the Customer’s Specifications and expectations.
Ensure that filled bags that are rejected for metal are maintained in the proper area until inspected and the reject is noted on the appropriate paperwork.
Remove damaged bags from pallets and repair as necessary.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Maintains assigned work area, tools and equipment in a clean, organized and professional manner. Assist other associates in maintaining the visual workplace requirements for the entire area.
Know and practice all Safety and GMP requirements in assigned work areas.
Perform Packaging Line Changeovers. Performs non-maintenance tasks that are needed to maintain product flow and routine equipment operation. May include tasks such as, cleaning screens, and disposing of defective product or raw materials.
Drives a fork truck to move finished goods or packaging materials in the event of an unplanned vacancy.
Plant start up and shut down procedures.
Adhere to all plant policies and adapt to changes as assigned.
All others duties as assigned.
Able to work overtime, weekends and holidays when required.
Willing to work various shifts.
Must be willing to communicate with Shift Manager, Packaging Team Lead, Maintenance, and Co-workers about issues and concerns as related to the line operations.
Job Specifications/Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
1 year of manufacturing experience preferred
Knowledge & Experience:
Ability to work independently
Mechanical aptitude
Ability to lift 55 pounds
Ability to stand for up to 12 hours per day
Ability to concentrate while doing repetitive motion jobs
Ability to adapt to changes on both stationary jobs as well as possibly mobile moving jobs all in a potentially fast paced environment
Ability to be forklift certified
