Job Description:
The Process Operator will:
- Monitor and operate plant equipment - including start-ups and shut-downs
- Via Distributed Control Systems and/or panel board mounted instruments
- In the field, physical requirements include:
- Working indoors and outdoors (in all weather conditions)
- Standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders
- Working at heights
- Working in confined spaces (as needed)
- Working 12-hour rotating shifts (days and nights), if required
- Lifting and moving loads of various weights
- Perform minor maintenance on equipment and/or work with Maintenance personnel on major repairs
- Understand and follow written or verbal instructions and procedures
- Trouble shoot operational problems
- Use computers to:
- Access procedures and other information
- Access and complete required training
- Input/retrieve data
- Follow all safety, environmental, and company rules and policies
- Wear personal protective equipment as required (may include: safety glasses, fire retardant coveralls, safety boots, hard hats, face shields, etc.)
- Perform housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain plant and equipment in a neat, orderly condition
- Be dependable (report to work when scheduled, be on time for work and be available for overtime, when needed)
- Exercise good judgment
- Show initiative (make good use of time and resources)
- Be a team player
Training Requirements (after reporting to work):
- Complete a 2 to 3-year apprenticeship program that includes:
- classroom (books, hands-on labs, tests) - this portion is done primarily on the apprentice's own time
- on-the-job training
- on-going satisfactory performance
- quarterly evaluations/feedback
- Maintain current status on all procedural and safety training
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must have a valid state motor vehicle driver's license
- Must have stable work history
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Proficiency in using computers
- Proven ability to learn and retain complex manufacturing process information
- Dependable
- Safety minded
- Ability to read, understand, update, and follow complex technical operating procedures
Required testing / minimum WorkKeys scores of:
- Applied Math – Operator 5
- Graphic Literacy – Operator 4
- Workplace Documents – Operator 5
- Applied Technology – Optional/ no minimum required
