Position Overview:
This position is for a NX Design Mechanical Engineer to execute engineering and configuration management activities including management, organization, and verification of complex design requirements, within a model-based engineering environment. The NX Engineer plays a critical role in the delivery of the design model, Product Lifecycle Management, as well as for coordination of the scope and integration of work with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
Full time telework is authorized for this position with potential travel up to 25% to project site in Ogden, UT. Initial two-week business trip to Ogden, UT will be required for onboarding. If candidate prefers to work at the project site, full relocation will be authorized.
Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for executing engineering work assignments concerned with specialized unique engineering requirements in a global business unit. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in executing requirements management, 3-D solids modeling in NX platform, model-based systems engineering, industrial process modeling, and design development experience producing design documents for government customers in accordance with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
The candidate will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in the management and verification of the facility requirements. The position will be responsible for developing key engineering documents and must have a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to engineering and construction. In addition, it will be required that the candidate have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment with limited oversight.
- Supports defining facility/system design requirements
- Develops key NX modeling and engineering documents related to the systems engineering, design change management, design interface control, and equipment configuration packages
- Executes requirements verification and acceptance criteria evaluations
- Engages with the customer to ensure alignment of delivery and design, and enhances communication opportunities
- Develop 3D modeling and design configuration packages
- Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management
- Executes system-level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specifications, and requirements flowdown and traceability.
- Executes impact analyses for proposed requirement changes.
- Supports maintaining the Model Based Systems Engineering Program
- Supports maintaining Configuration Management within the Program
- Supports the implementation and implement testing and verification plans for the program that is supportive of the overall execution strategy.
- Utilizes the customer selected appropriate systems engineering software package with which to implement delivery.
- Accountable to capture, scrutinize and deconflict requirements across stakeholders and to subsequently assure delivery of hierarchical requirements management documents.
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team
Basic Qualifications:
- Level 1: BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, from an accredited university, with less than 1 year of relevant experience.
- Level 2: BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, from an accredited university, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- US citizenship is required per contract requirement.
- Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience executing design engineering with Siemens NX modeling tools, or other engineering modeling tools or similar type software packages
- Experience in Siemens Teamcenter collaboration tools or similar type Product Lifecycle Management software packages
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, Broad knowledge of the application of engineering design principles.
- Experience with engineering implementation on projects executed for DOD, or other similar government agencies.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Experience working on large, complex EPC contracts.
- Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines. Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
- Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, similar type responsibilities for nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands on experience with Siemens NX through education, training, or practical experience.
- Hands on experience with Siemens Teamcenter through education, training, or practical experience.
- Experience in 3d and Solid Modeling and Design /Systems Engineering
- Be familiar with the design of complex industrial facilities
- Experience with manufacturing modeling and efficiency analysis
- Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide
- Hands-on experience using Revit MEP, including Architectural interface, drawing generation, view templates, design options, and phasing.
- Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
- Previous DoD/DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA project experience.
- Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
