Job Overview:

The Event Manager - CPGP is a temporary assignment based in Glendale, California. This salaried role reports to the West Coast Manager, Events.

The Event Manager is part of a team that plans, develops and produces large-scale, complex and high-profile results-driven in-person, virtual and hybrid events in support of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. The role’s primary focus is on Consumer Products, Games and Publishing (CPGP). Leveraging an understanding of strategic marketing and communications, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong project management capabilities. The role will collaborate with internal and external partners to develop business-to-business, consumer and internal event programs that drive superior results to align with business goals, objectives and strategies.

Responsibilities:

Every day as an Event Manager is different. On any given day you may:

  • Lead cross-functional teams, internal to lines of business and communications, as well as external, through all phases of in-person and/or virtual event production, including creative planning, development, budget creation/management, logistical production, execution and post-event evaluation/recap
  • Be responsible and accountable for delivering all aspects of the event within the approved financial scope, and that the overall event objectives, deliverables and timelines are met and exceed expectations
  • Serve as main communications point for all key stakeholders on event-related details
  • Work with Corporate Travel to secure and contract room blocks as needed for events
  • Manage internal and external attendee lists and invitation processes
  • Demonstrate the ability to seamlessly work with a Technical Production team on development and execution of technical components of events
  • Research and gather information needed to make informed decisions throughout all phases and recommend future improvements
  • Participate in creative sessions to develop new event concepts and options
  • Develop and present creative and logistical plans/recaps to internal partners and Disney executives
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and partners throughout the Consumer Products, Games and Publishing (CPGP) segment, including content partners, legal, risk management, security, etc.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective external relationships with vendors and other essential partners
  • Stay informed of current industry trends, best practices and other information beneficial to role and leverage that knowledge to improve events

Basic Qualifications

It would be great if you had:

  • 5+ years of event experience in a similar event management role
  • Must have an event portfolio featuring a wide range of event experience including media/influencer events, experiential activations, consumer/fan conventions and/or industry events
  • Organizational, planning and project management skills
  • Experience leading multiple complex projects with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to develop and present concise, compelling presentations integrating event strategies, objectives, creative, and other key information
  • Confidence and experience presenting to senior leadership levels
  • Creative and strategic thinking skills
  • Curiosity around current industry trends and experience effectively leverage trends and technology in events, maximizing the reach and relevancy to the audience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with varying priorities and deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in Mac, Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Keynote) Google G Suite, Slack, with ability to learn new and existing software programs & applications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness and availability to travel domestically and internationally as needed, and work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Disney experience and/or knowledge of the Disney brand
  • Knowledge and experience working with digital technologies, Media Relations and Public Affairs

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or equivalent work experience
