Position Overview:

The Enterprise Digital Architect reports to the Chief Enterprise Architect and is a global technology thought leader with a broad and deep contemporary and transformative technology background who also has a solid grasp of our business and the industries we work in. The person in this global role communicates and collaborates with business and technology leaders and may lead a team of cloud, digital and/or enterprise architects to develop digital technology strategies & standards, cloud specific architecture blueprints & patterns and provide architecture governance for all initiatives that are planned and executed in the Cloud and Digital domains. 

The Enterprise Digital Architect may have matrix reports that are cloud/ digital/ solution architects in the value streams/ technology and platform teams that they support. In addition, this person also advises, guides and influences ITSLT leaders, their direct reports and the technology teams in Cloud and Digital Transformation areas, to help them make the right technology acquisition and usage decisions that directly support Eaton's business outcomes.  He/ She also analyzes technology and market trends and determines the potential impact of emerging technologies (in the cloud/ digital space) on the enterprise. This person is also responsible for evaluating the requirements of a business or IT request and then architecting, designing and creating the foundational cloud frameworks for an enterprise-wide technical solution to support that request. Additionally, this person is also responsible for the execution of architecture efforts, and has overall responsibility for cloud based architecture and design of solutions that encompass digital capabilities such as automation, hybrid multi-cloud, DevSecOps, integration and orchestration. This person will work with the development teams to educate them on cloud and digital best practices and provide architecture/ design oversight and guidance at varying levels during project execution.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Serves as a technical SME in the areas of Cloud Architecture, Digital Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Technology Standards Management and Architecture Governance 
• Possibly have matrixed Cloud and Solution Architects
• Collaborate and partner with business leaders and IT BRMs to understand business strategies and develop, own and govern our overall Cloud and Digital technology strategy 
• Provides Cloud architecture and technology advice and guidance to Business leaders, IT SLT, their direct reports and delivery teams on Architecture and Technology elements. 
• Leads the development of Cloud architecture artifacts, gains consensus from other technical teams and governs the implementation of these artifacts. Own Cloud Architecture Review Boards (CARB)
• Leads and drives architecture, design and solution discussions that have a cloud of Digital dependency both with business and other IT personnel
• Organizes and leads cross-functional discussions within the IT and business organizations in support of key strategies and initiatives
• Works with the other product and solution architecture groups to develop and govern technology standards and capabilities within the organization
• Guides and directs cross-functional cloud/digital project teams throughout project execution life-cycle, but partnering with product and solution architects
• Manages architecture and governance activities across multiple initiatives and teams simultaneously
• Evaluates technical capabilities of vendors and owns the technology lifecycle for all technologies within the Cloud and Digital technology domains
• Creates and presents solutions with varying options covering both tactical and strategic needs as necessary
• Leads the resolution of technical or architectural disputes
• Ensures adherence of solutions to established cloud architecture standards and processes. When needed works within and across other organization to develop/ modify appropriate standards
• Represents the Architecture and/or IT organizations as a whole in discussions with third parties (vendors, clients, joint venture partners, etc.)
• Can step in when needed to provide technical leadership for cross-functional projects from design through to deployment as needed, specifically for Cloud or Digital initiatives
• Provides managers with technical performance assessments 
• Recognizes new/evolving trends and ensures personal growth and skill maintenance as a contributor. Analyzes new technologies to resolve business problems 
• Works with vendors to better understand how features and interfaces of outside applications can facilitate the fulfillment of customer requests

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM from an accredited institution required
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Technology Architecture and/or Cloud development discipline
• Relocation benefit is not provided for this position.  Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of any Eaton US facility to be considered for this opportunity.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship  

Position Criteria:

• Experience and knowledge of enterprise architecture and technology architecture functions and processes. Familiarity with EA frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman etc.
• Demonstrated Experience in developing Cloud native and Cloud agnostic application architectures that leverage the primary cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) as well as regional Cloud platforms (for e.g. Alibaba)
• Demonstrated experience with private cloud implementations (on-prem, leveraging vmWare) and Hybrid Multi-Cloud implementation models 
• Demonstrated Experience in developing Cloud reference architectures, technology blueprints for specific technology and functional platforms. Additionally, expertise in keeping these artifacts relevant and governing against this artifact
• Experience in Cloud based software development (leveraging various Cloud deployment models such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, FaaS etc.). Experience in Cloud based database and AI/ML technologies is a plus 
• Demonstrated experience in DevSecOps and leveraging Agile and DevSecOps in the software delivery process
• High level understanding of IoT, Automation and Orchestration capabilities
• Experience in resolving technology disputes and influencing stakeholders to leverage and follow enterprise architecture decisions and cloud architecture specific patterns
• Demonstrated experience in architecting enterprise-wide solutions (as a solution architect, infrastructure architect or an information architect)
• Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors
• Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
• Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
• Experience working with technical teams with limited knowledge of your subject matter (Cloud/ Digital)
• Experience interacting at the executive level
• Experience managing multiple architecture disciplines across multiple organization levels
• Experience influencing leadership and key stakeholders on architecture decisions and technology solutions
• Experience applying knowledge of the new processes and concepts in IT management, structure and organization
• Drive consensus and dispute resolution to ensure architecture decisions are managed and governed
• Management Consulting experience preferred
• Ability to teach teams you support on Cloud areas that you have expertise in
