This is a Site Controls System Technician position for the Anniston, AL, Heat Transfer Fluids & Aviation Hydraulic Fluids manufacturing site, which is part of the Additives and Functional Products Division. This position involves maintaining existing control systems, DCS and PLC’s, support on capital project /improvement initiatives with onsite resources, safety system maintenance and oversight of site IT equipment.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Day to Day responsibilities for maintaining existing control systems to include 24x7 on call support
• Maintain the plant DCS/PLC electronic documentation
• Maintain virus protection on all equipment
• Maintain on-site spares for DCS/SIS/PLC systems
• Build and update all graphics, programs, or control schematics and assist in training operators
• Maintain Site Training Simulator
• Manage preventative maintenance programs for DCS/SIS/PLC systems
• Configure changes to the DCS/SIS to support improvement efforts
• Perform backups of control configuration files
• Makes changes to the process historian to reflect changes made on the DCS
• Assist E&I on System upgrades/maintenance tasks
• Site Contact for IT systems with offsite teams
• Maintain site IT systems
Other duties may include:
• Work with process engineers to improve site performance
• Provide support to the maintenance and production organization when needed
• Work closely with other engineers, operations, and maintenance resources to develop and prioritize improvement projects.
• Support of alarm management efforts
• Communicate effectively and appropriately to all stakeholders
• Recommend spare parts for critical equipment
• Maintain relationships with site teams to quickly address controls systems and IT concerns
Min. Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• Must have a minimum of 4 years of industry experience in Operations or Maintenance I&E, or alternatively 3 years' experience with an associate degree in instrumentation, electronics, computer system technology, process technology or similar field of study
• This position requires development and execution of procedures and best practices required to maintain the operational excellence and securty of the process control systems
• An individual in this position must be capable of planning and managing the work of a small group of resources, both internal and external that may be involved in the installation, repair, diagnostic testing, or upgrade of the process control systems
• An individual in this position must also be able to effectively communicate priorities and recommendations, relating to process control systems hardware, to all levels within the plant
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in DCS board operation or maintenance/troubleshooting of process control and safety instrumented systems is a plus
• Experience with configuration, programming, Emerson DeltaV control systems, computer networking systems and programmable logic controllers is desired
• Computer networking and IT systems experience
• Must be able to perform essential job tasks:
• Communicate effectively (both written and oral) with all levels of the organization as well as with other business stakeholders
• Effectively work with and/or lead teams when needed
• Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite & other computer applications
Must be able to meet the following requirements:
• Able to work in United States without sponsorship
• Able to utilize typical personal protective equipment without difficulty
• Able to physically access equipment throughout the plant on multiple levels
