The team 

Deloitte is seeking an experienced data scientist who can design, build, and own critical analytical initiatives to drive insights and innovation in a SaaS-based software product.

  • The Data Scientist works on the product team with developers, data scientists, QA engineers, UI/UX designers, and product managers to build software products using an agile approach. The Data Scientist designs, implements, and operates algorithms, ML models, NLP, entity resolution, and other analytical components.
  • The Data Scientist will bring working knowledge of data science theory, tooling, implementation, and production operations. The Data Scientist is a high impact individual who will own initiatives from start to finish.

Job Duties

  • Own and complete data science development tickets during sprints
  • Collaborate with team members to ideate engineering approaches and solutions, research and scope options, and present and assess trade-offs to inform decisions
  • Build data science product components such as monitoring & alerting machine learning models, signal de-duplication, location based alert insights, ETL pipelines, network centrality measure analysis, data visualization, sanctioned company identification, and supplier risk score algorithms
  • Manage, implement, and use multiple AWS services (such as AWS SageMaker and S3)
  • Pursue proof of concepts to validate ideas
  • Produce and maintain technical architecture diagrams and documentation
  • Perform peer code reviews and mentor other team members
  • Proactively communicate status updates

Required:  

  • Bachelor's degree required 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required clearance for this role  
  • Ability to travel up to 25% on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Preferred:  

  • 3+ years of experience designing, building, launching, and maintaining machine learning models
  • 3+ years of experience designing, building, launching, and maintaining text classification algorithms such as NLP/TF-IDF
  • 3+ years of experience programming in Python and using Jupyter Notebook
  • 3+ years of experience with relational, graph, or NoSQL databases (at least one of the following: PostgreSQL, Aurora, MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Neptune, ArangoDB, Neo4J)
  • 3+ years of experience designing, building, launching, and maintaining data analytics services in web-based software-as-a-service solutions
  • 1+ years of experience working with large scale data analytics platforms such as Spark/PySpark
  • 1+ years of experience working with data integration and ETL platforms such as AWS Glue and Prefect
  • 1+ years of experience working in Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environments and services (EKS, ECR, EC2, S3, CloudWatch)
  • 1+ years of experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with test automation and test-driven development
  • Strong Understanding of Agile/Scrum Methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or on a full team
  • BS in Computer Science or related field
  • AWS Machine Learning Specialty Certification
  • Mastery/Expertise in TensorFlow and deep learning
  • Strong experience using NLP/TF-IDF
  • Mastery/Expertise in AWS Sagemaker
  • Mastery/Expertise in PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB, ArangoDB
  • Strong experience using AWS Services
  • Strong experience using Spark
  • Strong experience in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), entity resolution, and processing large amounts of data
