Position Overview:
The Contractor Licensing Manager is responsible for proactively maintaining and improving state licensures and registrations to support Eaton's core business operations functions, including but not limited to Electrical and General Contractor Licensing. They will coordinate with the legal department and 3rd-party licensing consultant, gather and verify information for applications, oversee administration of qualifying party incentive programs, research state and local regulations and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations, identify and interview qualifying parties, support application process, manage renewal applications, and provide updates to operation leadership on compliance with contractor licensing regulations and rules.
In this function you will:
- Research state and local contractor licensing regulations
- Maintain licensing roadmap and gap analysis in order to communicate process to leadership team.
- Oversee all State Licensing Applications with support from 3rd Party Consultant.
- Obtain Qualifying Party Status for specific states by studying and passing business and trade exams for specific states and maintain licensing requirements
- Support identification of qualifying parties within Eaton
- Maintain license renewals for all licenses
- Administer licensing incentive programs
- Manage associated budgets concerning role of responsibility
- Communicate across inter-Eaton departments such as with Legal, Operations, SCM, and Sales
- Room to grow into managing other Contracts Manager and Project Management functions
Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction management, engineering or licensing compliance field
- Must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
- No relocation is being offered for this position
Preferred qualifications:
- Candidates possessing a current Master Electrician issued by one or more States is strongly preferred
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering or Construction Management or Law is a plus, but ideal candidate has considerable construction management experience either at Electrical or General Contractor level
- Past experience participating in contractor licensing compliance such as acting as a Qualifying Party or managing applications
- Experience on larger electrical construction projects
Position Criteria:
- Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton's safety program and policies
- Understanding of construction and engineering industries
- Understanding of state contractor and engineering licensing programs
- Substantial technical construction or engineering knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Apps (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.)
- Strategic and critical thinker.
- Strong communication skills capable of effective communication with various internal Eaton departments.
- Comfortable and capable of interpreting complex administrative and legal regulations and rules.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Ability and confidence to complete applications, renewal paperwork, and study for trade and business exams as needed
