Advanced Systems Group (ASG) is a newly formed stand-alone division of Brunswick, the world’s largest recreational marine business.  We are seeking a Full Stack Developer to join our team at the Brunswick Loop Lab based out of Chicago, IL.  As a Software Engineer, you will take part in the design and development of software for the current and next generation of Brunswick digital and IoT platform. In this role, you will be developing complex applications with a team goal of streamlining business operations and improving overall customer experience.  

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong desire to increase efficiencies and make an impact while contributing to a cross-functional team. You will need to have experience in developing frontend, backend systems. It will help for you to be detail-oriented and a skilled problem solver because you will also be helping us to streamline our processes—and automating them where applicable.  Your ability to creatively collaborate and execute team goals will affect scalability and directly contribute to the company mission. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Building and maintaining tools, solutions and microservices associated with deployment and our operations platform, ensuring that all meet our customer service standards and reduce errors. 

• Work with experienced engineers, internal and external, across many functional areas to deliver business value to internal and external stakeholders. 

• Develop scalable solutions using tools like React Native, NodeJS, MongoDB, MySQL, and other open stack frameworks. 

• Know your system! Seek to understand all aspects, business and technical, of the applications on which you work so that you can be most effective. 

• Contribute towards the timely completion of development tasks and small projects while applying company standards. 

• Continually learn and apply relevant software development practices, patterns, tools, and technologies. 

• Work with CI/CD tools, and source control such as GIT and Azure DevOps. 

• Offer technical support where needed, developing software for our back-end systems and customer facing mobile applications. 

• Specifying, documenting, and developing new product features, and writing automating scripts. 

• Stay current with industry trends and source new ways for our business to improve. 

• Test our system integrity, implemented designs, application developments and other processes related to infrastructure, making improvements as needed. 

• Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing and production, catching and solving issues before launch. 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a relevant field. 

• 2 years of experience in backend development, using tools such as: NodeJS, TypeScript. 

• 2+ years of Experience in frontend development, using tools such as: React Native, Jest, Typescript 

• 2+ years of experience in REST API development/Consumption 

• Experience in SQL/NOSQL development using tools such as: MySQL, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, Redis 

• Distributed Source Control, using tools such as: Git, Azure Repos 

• Nice to have experience in IoT development, using tools such as: MQTT, Azure IoT 

• Nice to have experience of REST API development using Apigee gateway. 

• Nice to have experience with Azure Cloud services such as: Azure CI/CD, Azure DevOps 

• Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services. 

• Effective communication skills and ability to explain protocol and processes with team and management. 

• Stellar troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems. 

• Current with industry trends, software development technologies and industry best practices, and able to identify the ones we should implement. 

• Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
