Job Description

It matters to us that Team O2 is as diverse as the communities we serve.

We’re aware that we need more diversity in our senior leadership roles, so we welcome and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.

Whoever you are, O2 has a place for you.

Come join us.

At Virgin Media, we believe that great employee experience leads to great customer experience. From our CEO to our field engineers, we are committed to growing a diverse and inclusive culture that empowers innovation, thus achieving our purpose of “Building connections that really matter” and our North Star “To become the most recommended brand by our people and customers”.

Who we are

Commercial and IT Enablement are the digital engine room of Virgin Media O2. We understand the needs of the business to deliver products & services into the hands of our customers by using the best people, tools & techniques. We blend technical knowledge, efficiency and innovation to deliver digital solutions with momentum, quality and robustness.

We are looking for a Front End Development Manager with passion, energy, a strong desire to learn and improve and a commitment to driving our product journey forward. You’ll have to make tough decisions, implement best practices and provide compromises when situations are not ideal. The candidate will have experience of working in Agile teams preferably in the Digital domain.

The Front End Development Manager will be helping our development teams build highly scalable products. Working under the vision of a product owner and alongside developers, UX, operational experts and our delivery team, you will be responsible for making sure that features are delivered with the highest possible quality.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Significant experience of front-end Web development
  • Solid experience in technologies such as React, Next.js, Node.js, vue.js, HTML5, CSS, SPA, TypeScript, responsive design
  • Excellent knowledge of software development and theoretical principles of computing
  • Experience with CI/CD, TDD (frameworks such as Mocha, Chai, Sinon) and BDD
  • A proven background in team & full lifecycle line management
  • Significant experience of working within an Agile / Scrum and DevOps development environment

The other stuff we're looking for

We'd also love you to bring;

  • Hold a growth mindset, professional curiosity, and the ability to enable yourself in new technologies.
  • Possess strong enthusiasm, resilience, and a positive attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Work well with other people, see the value of a team, and partner effectively with all stakeholders. Thrive by identifying high leverage work and doing it without explicit direction.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent related IT or Engineering qualifications.

What's in it for you?

We know that benefits mean so much more than the 'stuff' we can give you, so we offer a wide range of support, rewards and tools - all focused on helping you to prioritise what really matters.

All work and no play just isn't our style! We're already planning our future ways of working, for when life becomes a little more normal again. We're constantly evolving our approach to enable you to find a great work life balance.

This role is a level 5/ PCGT

Next steps

If we feel like a place where you can belong, we'd love to learn more about you. Once you've submitted an application the next steps of the process, if successful, are likely to include a telephone conversation, a competency based interview, completion of a Saville Wave assessment and a final stage interview with a presentation.

When you apply, you'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process. Let us know, and we'll be sure to discuss it with you. Thanks for your patience in the meantime and for showing an interest in joining the Virgin Media O2 family.
