Job Summary:

The Freeform PR team is responsible for crafting messaging about Freeform and its programming in the press. We help create buzz and excitement for our series and talent.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life…

This internship will provide the intern with the opportunity to learn from the Publicity team at Freeform. The intern will explore all aspects of the Publicity team such as daily press tracking, pitching for individual shows, and special event execution. Interns are provided tangible on-the-job experience with opportunities to observe and participate in as many facets of Publicity as possible so they can understand what a career in Television publicity would entail. Lastly, the intern will learn basic publicity skills, advance their knowledge of entertainment press opportunities, and understand the planning and execution of communication campaigns.

  • The intern will support the overall office organization, which may include…
    • Tracking online and print press coverage and compile for daily clip reports.
    • Updating department databases such as press contacts, awards, etc.
    • Supporting the network’s Vice President of Communications’ office as needed.
    • Assisting during virtual or in-person publicity and events
    • Assisting in writing press releases, loglines, etc.
    • Assisting in talent gifting.
    • Contributing to brainstorming sessions and publicity strategy meetings.
    • Various administrative duties as needed.

  • Basic knowledge of public relations.
  • Knowledge and excitement for Freeform programming.
  • Proven ability to be a self-starter and effectively problem solve.
  • Responsible, dependable, and organized with excellent communications/writing skills.
  • Positive attitude and the ability to be proactive, resourceful, and able to adapt.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments by deadline.
  • Must be a team player and enthusiastic to learn all aspect of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship experience in publicity/media relations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Required Education

  • Junior, Senior or Recent Graduate

Additional Information:

Internship Eligibility:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Unrestricted work authorization
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program at a college/university taking at least one class in the semester prior to participation in the internship program, or recently graduated within six months at time of application.
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • The approximate dates of this internship are May/June - August/September.
  • Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship.
