Freedom Boat Club offers a fun, fast-paced work environment devoted to creating an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere for our members. We are seeking dockhands from April to mid-Nov. to care for our growing fleet of boats (power and sailboats, 20-30 ft.).  If you like working outside, around boats, are a forward-thinker, have great customer service skills, have attention to detail and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, this is the job for you. Don't be stuck inside during the summer. Make the outside your office!

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain appearance of boats, docks, facilities, and equipment

• Assist members with boarding/disembarking boats, casting off/securing lines

• Maintain accurate records in the reservation system, maintain the dock log, answer phones

• Monitor weather and communicate with members and staff about hazardous conditions

• Complete thorough boat inspections to isolate damage and/or verify the boat is operational

• Run the dock with very little (or no) direct supervision

• Keep a positive attitude and provide excellent customer service to members, employees, and prospective members

• May be asked to assist with other duties to ensure that operations run smooth

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Must be over 18 years old

• High school education or equivalent

• Must pass a background and drug screening

• Boating knowledge a plus

Preferred Skills

• Strong Customer Service skills

• Good interpersonal communication skills

• Attention to detail

• Problem solver; adaptable

• Comfort around water

Required physical abilities

• Transfer between boat and dock repeatedly

• Work outside in various weather conditions

• Maneuver in tight spaces

• Stand/kneel and/or walk/move for prolonged intervals

• Lift up to 50 lbs.
