Freedom Boat Club offers a fun, fast-paced work environment devoted to creating an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere for our members. We are seeking a Dock Master from March through November to manage one of our docks. If you like working outside, around boats, are a forward-thinker, have great customer service skills, can lead small groups, have attention to detail and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, this is the job for you. There is rapid career advancement for the right person! You will also have the opportunity to learn more about boating and franchise operations. Don't be stuck inside during the summer. Make the outside your office!
Primary Responsibilities
Lead hiring process for dock hands by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, and hiring
Train dock staff using proper procedures for cleaning, safety, and customer service
Plan work schedules and assign duties to maximize performance and reduce overhead in response to fluctuating workloads
Monitor staff performance throughout work process and at completion to ensure quality standards are met
Perform the same work duties as those supervised or perform more difficult/skilled tasks to assist in their performance
Maintain supply inventory and track usage to reduce waste
Maintain appearance of boats, docks, facilities, and equipment
Assist members with boarding/disembarking boats, casting off/securing lines
Complete thorough boat inspections to isolate damage and/or verify the boat is operational
Maintain accurate records in the reservation system, fill out incident reports, and oversee and maintain the dock log, answer phones, handle member questions/concerns
Monitor weather and communicate with members and staff about hazardous conditions
Plan and direct activities for upcoming: video/photo shoots, seminars, media segments, VIP visits, etc.
Schedule and/or fuel boats
May be asked to assist with other duties to ensure that operations run smooth
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Must be over 21 years old
High school education or equivalent
Management/Supervisor experience required
Demonstration of Leadership
Preferred Skills
Strong Customer Service skills
Good interpersonal communication skills
Attention to detail
Problem solver; adaptable
Comfort around water
Required Physical Abilities
Transferring between boat and dock repeatedly
Working outside in various weather conditions
Maneuvering in tight spaces
Standing and/or kneeling for prolonged intervals
Lifting up to 50 lbs.
