Big Bank Funding. FinTech Thinking.
HSBC Digital Business Services (DBS) provides the technology solutions that enable the business to operate and service customers. From groundbreaking relationship management platforms built using Agile/DevOps to industrial strength engines that power global online websites and trade platforms, our highly engaged and talented team can do it all.
Wholesale Technology sits within DBS and is at the heart of growth at HSBC, generating more than US$20 billion each year, and turning over more than US$1 million of trade every minute.
Digital Business Banking (DBB) is our next generation digital banking platform serving over 650 thousand of HSBC’s UK SME customers - It is run by small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues globally from our offices in the UK and multiple locations around the World!
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2021 and beyond, we are currently seeking a Forms Lead Engineer to join us in Wholesale Technology DBB.
What you will be doing;
Your focus will be to help the development and maintenance of key DBB staff and customer facing applications, including the Onboarding of new business customers, and ensuring those customers are supported with appropriate products based on their business needs. We are seeking to improve customer experience by simplifying many of the online journeys, and also keeping the alignment to products as new products are launched.
There are multiple delivery teams working across the business demand, focusing on different customer journeys. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to build a community of developers from within those delivery teams, learn the technology in use and embed good practice to upskill and guide them, growing their confidence and volume of delivery.
We work on multiple projects and programmes in parallel, releasing changes every few weeks. It’s often fast-paced and brings job satisfaction due to the immediate tangible benefits to our customers and HSBC operational staff.
Our DBB Lead Engineer will report directly to the Onboarding, Sales and Lending Functional Lead in DBB UK, and will be a peer of the IT Project Managers who own the delivery teams along with the Scrum Masters. They will be responsible for the developers but will not have line management duties.
As with any role, this one is not without some challenges. New Forms developers receive only limited formal training from the vendor suppliers and no ongoing support. There is a high demand for functional changes in all areas, often with short delivery timescales associated. And technical improvements are often de-prioritised behind functional demand.
What you will bring to the role;
To be successful in this role you will bring drive and enthusiasm, plus have:
This role will primarily be London based but some travel may be required.
