About the Team

TM Financial Control is a Centre of Excellence (COE) providing business support and expertise across key functional areas such as Accounting & Reporting, Revenue Assurance, Credit Risk & Fraud, Billing Operations & Debt Management and Liquidity & Financing.

Tesco Mobile is at the start of an exciting agile transformation journey as a Centre of Excellence, the Financial Control team will play an important role in making the transformation successful, embracing an agile mindset, ways of working, tools, and techniques.

 

About the role

This role with lead Tesco Mobile’s Treasury operations, ensuring that day to day liquidity cash and reporting requirements are managed efficiently across a range of complex structured arrangements and over both short term and long term horizons.  

This is fundamentally a forecasting and reporting role, a strong understanding of business processes and commercial drivers rather than Treasury expertise is required, the successful candidate should however be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of financing arrangements in support of this.

This is a role that has a high level of responsibility around cash processes and management so operating with diligence within a rigorous control environment is critically important to the effective operation and protection of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include –

 

  • Producing and presenting short- and long-range cash flow forecasts
  • Monitoring and managing the day-to-day liquidity requirements of the business
  • Preparing and submitting monthly reports and cash reconciliations to external finance providers
  • Prompting important liquidity decisions / action and providing recommendations
  • Defining, communicating, and upholding Treasury processes
  • Adapting and Improving planning alignment of forecasting models
  • Working cross functionally with the Data, Insight & Analytics Tribe to enhance and future-proof key reports
  • Dealing with Adhoc requests from external finance providers / servicers
  • Reviewing month end journals, outputs, and reconciliations
  • Engaging with teams across the business to understand the cash impacts and opportunities arising from planned initiatives, regulatory and operational changes
  • Ensuring significant cash transactions are executed with accuracy and rigour

 

What We Need from You:

Essential Skills:

  • Qualified accountant with demonstrable PQE in a financial control environment.
  • Strong knowledge of working capital liquidity arrangements and drivers
  • Solid understanding of the mobile telecommunications industry
  • Track record of rigorously operating processes and controls whilst actively seeking improvements and efficiencies
  • Experience of building and maintaining effective relationships across Finance and with external stakeholders
  • Ability to move quickly between maintaining accuracy in the detail and providing an impactful high-level overview
  • Fluent use of Excel and systems to aid proficient modelling
  • Established grasp of Accounting treatment and processes
  • Embody an Agile mindset and culture to contribute to the growth in agile maturity of our business.
