Purpose

Coop Power seeks to procure the Group’s energy requirements across all utilities, electricity, gas, and water, at highly competitive prices and in the most sustainable way.

This places great emphasis on ensuring we match the overall requirement for energy with the purchases we make. Variances to the forecast and the procurement leads to extremely volatile pricing and significantly increased costs

Key to the success of the role will be accurately and consistently providing an overview of the portfolio and its associated energy / non energy costs, whilst providing clear and accurate budgeting and forecasting data and reports

Contribution

• Act as point of contact for budgeting and forecasting taking responsibility for ensuring the Group’s energy needs are understood, and the group and its customers have full visibility of the costs over a three-year horizon
• Provide expert energy market advice on a range of topics including energy costs, commodity costs and wider market analysis of energy cost trends
• Develop and enhance a long-term energy budgeting and forecasting processes, focused on accurate data and knowledgeable insight
• Day-to-day management of the budgeting and forecasting process in-line with the governance framework set out in the above procedures and established rules on business planning
• Delivery of agreed level of commercial risk aligned to the three-year strategic plan and annual budget provision.
• Reconcile trades through to delivered prices so that cost allocation and budget control is visible
• Provide clear, timely and accurate reports that can be trusted by the Group and its customers
• Keep abreast of industry / market developments and cost saving opportunities through external bodies and information channels. Continuously benchmark Group internal standards and services against those available in the market.
• Continuously analyse wholesale energy market trends and inter-relationships to identify cost saving / risk management opportunities. Provide management information to justify budget and forecasting decisions and to monitor long-term performance against agreed objectives.
• Support the Group’s Environmental objectives with innovative solutions so that we maintain our market leading Green electricity / sustainable energy position.
