What role will you play as a member of the Colgate's / Hill's Research & Development? 
The Product Development group is responsible for bringing new product innovation to market across our premium wellness and therapeutic product portfolios that help transform the lives of pets. Our Scientist - Product Development will lead research on the characterization, modification, and application of protein functionality on the formula development and production scale-up phases of wellness & therapeutic foods for dogs and cats. This will involve working closely with product development scientists, supply chain, and ingredient procurement to ensure successful product development and scale-up is achieved.

What you will do

• Lead research on the characterization of new sustainable proteins and their application to the development of sole-source nutritional solutions that deliver against specified nutrient, ingredient, quality & cost requirements.
• Partner with product development colleagues to optimize the use of protein functionality in product design.
• Validation of ingredient and product performance through coordination & interpretation of product analytical, biological, palatability, sensory, and stability testing.
• Development of ingredient and finished product specifications.
• Creation of final formula documentation and supporting information.
• Ongoing quality, safety, and related training.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science or related field
• A minimum of 3 Years of Academic or Industry Experience
• Demonstrated understanding of protein functionality and application to food production systems
• Possesses basic understanding of regulatory, product safety and quality requirements relevant to the development of commercial food products.
• Demonstrated ability to design and run scientific experiments
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral), interpersonal and team skills; ability to lead in a cross-functional environment
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills

Preferred Qualifications

• MS or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field
• Experience in product design and development (Preferably sole source nutritional products in animal/human food industry)
